I think the Z could go the way or the dodo bird, they could keep it around in it's typical 2-seater configuration, or they could try to reinvent it as a 2+2 to compete better with the other 2+2s on the market. I hope they don't, but it's a definite possibility. Then there's obviously Nissan's green initiative... I could see a hybrid Z or full electric Z in the near future. :/

Hopefully Nissan does not throw in the towel on the Z. It is an icon. The have the GT-R, but the Z is pretty much what defines NISSAN. Other than the Maxima and Altima, what is left?
I would be interested to see some of the Mustang owners once I return from "hell", just to get a grip on how great they are as opposed to the lowly Z (sarcasm). Maybe I will go to a Ford dealer and test drive one for giggles.............

It definitely could happen, but it would look bad. |

The problem is I am not sure if Nissan cares about the Z's heritage. They are trying to push a very green lineup so I wouldn't be surprised to see them just use the name to help promote some new lame electric car. :/

Plus, like I said, with Nissan trying to reinvent itself as a future-looking, green brand, I think any good PR from that would outweigh whatever bad PR castrating the Z might bring.

Still, they're certainly not keeping it around because it's exclusive like the Reventon. The Nissan 370Z does not come with a helicopter delivery option or take prizes at the Concours D'Elegance. lol it weighs down showroom floors |

Bottom line is we are a dying breed. Not by our own choice, and we probably haven't seen the peak yet, but I think we're very close to the end of the high-powered, gas slurping cars we love so much. This is why I am a big proponent of enjoying it while we still can instead of fanboy fighting like we tend to do on these forums.
332 hp 3.7L, 412 hp 5.0... we're all going to end up in some 1.8L gas/electric hybrid nanny-mobile. Drive like you stole the god damn thing, fellas. Enjoy it while you still can.

There is obviously still a large enough demand for faster/exciting cars. Mustangs, STI, EVO, Corvettes, CTS-V, Porsche, etc that the exciting cars will not die off. Sure it may be a 2.5 liter with some awesome technology that produces a ton of hp with low gas consumption, or a hybrid that is a torque monster, or even a pure electric that goes like hell. If anything it seems that at some point people started getting more attached to the Big Engine Number vs the actual experience of driving the car. Aka, its a 6.3 liter oh baby yeah vs.. This car is awesome to drive. One thing that will be missed personally though is the sound that the big v8's can make.. I still miss the sound my GTO made. |

Now, the Mustang's SRA will have it spinning out on erry corner. As you and I saw in Zdayz, Mustangs are fine in a straight line, but they spin out all the time unless they have a go-pro mounted on the front bumper. |

I love my Z and hopefully will always have it. I also love my 92 notch, which I get just as many looks in(and spanks the Z in a straight line). But they are way different cars. I think the solution is to have a garage full of cars. Deuce coupe, here I come!
