k&n cold air intake
Who has one on their nismo? How much of a difference? Read all the reviews about how short ram is not as good as longtube etc...wanna go k&n, have had them on all my vehicles and they have made a difference but they were all V8s and different engine bay setups. Seen the 14hp increase but how about a difference in 0-60 & 1/4 mile... any input?

its not a CAI. It's a HAI.
I have them on my non Nismo. (should not matter which 370Z you have them on) I netted about 6-10 rwhp. I did a dyno, you can see it on my journal post.

I have the K&N on mine aswell. Some do say they are hot air intakes but when my car was on the dyno I had fans blowing through the front grill (like most dyno's do) and I noticed a good amount of cold air coming through the factory intake ports. Seems to me if your driving down the road you will always have some fresh air being forced into the airfilter. Either way you get smooth intake tubes and a good open filter with the kit. Plus most dealerships want void your warranty with a simple K&N setup.

Read all the dyno testimonials. Wish more people had G-Tech pros. The ram air cai doesn't benefit until after 35mph. Should notice a better mid and topend. But if the people who have them just notice a sound difference well that's good info to save bout $400. And I agree to feel somethin its gotta be more than 5-10 hp. I just wanna get one for some reason...but I gotta be sensible.

Bringing this thread back up from the dead. A friend of mine is selling the K&N intake with spare new filters as well. Used less then a month, he wants $250. Worth it? Only mods I currently have is a full speed daddy exhaust.

Either get an intake that moves the filters out of the engine bay, or go with drop in filters and maf tubes.

I wasnt looking for an intake upgrade. Hes a friend trying to let them go at a decent price. Im reading mixed takes on this upgrade. Some saying it allows the engine to breathe better resulting in increased HP and fuel economy. Others say the stock nissan intakes are better. Only reason im considering it is because of the price. Not really looking to spend a couple hundred dollars right now but if its a good deal, I dont mind going for it. Go for it or forget it?
Thanks, appreciate the feedback |

Forget it. The stock intake is better than an intake that pulls air from the engine compartment. Those short rams will show gains on a dyno with a huge fan on them, but they'll heat soak badly in traffic.
