Scraping front spoiler on rolling curbs?
Just curious as I am getting a Nismo body kit installed soon. Do any of you Nismo guys scrape your fronts when pulling into/out of rolling curbs? You know, those curbs that most suburbs have that extend all around the neighborhood and that will be on your drive way. They are really annoying and can cause you to scrape if you are too low... I scrape on mine every day when I pull out. Its just the rubber chin piece though, which the Nismo doesn't have...

If it is the type of curb that I am thinking of..then yes you will probably scrape the curb going in with the lip diffuser. Some are steeper than others though.
Just buy that ramp though. Its from Griots. Not cheap...but better than getting pissed everytime you go in and out. |

Yes, you will get those scrapes with the nismo bumper. but luckily, the nismo bumper isnt painted all the way to the bottom, it has a small area of black that is left unpainted, so the only scrapes you will get will not be on paint... i have only done this very minor and its more underneath then where you can see it without bending down...

Generally, I do not scrape on most curbs (like my driveway). I typically only scrape where the angles are particularly sharp. Approach angles can make a big difference in whether you scrape or not. The NISMO bumper has a textured black plastic piece on the bottom of the bumper that will take most of the scrapes. You'll have to lay on the ground to see them, so shouldn't detract from the appearance of the car. |

Well I have the front installed for just a week and I scraped it on the damn rolling curb. I even have a 2X6 layed out too. It was REAL close so I knew it was going to happen! Really sucks as this thing is just going to tear up that diffuser it no time! I might get a rubber colling curb ramp and call it a day, then replace the diffuser later on down the road. Good thing the paint is not getting scrapped up though.
$300 for rolling curb ramp $400 for new diffuser (when the time comes) All because of these damn rolling curbs... I really hope next house does NOT have them.
