Default Gas warning info?

Whats up with the gas low light. It came on at 25 mile left to empty with 2 light lite up then a mile or 2 miles later went to ----. Why wont it count down more then that. I like to run it down low to keep it clean of water and crap. So the last 1/8 or so. or the last 2 lights or worthless.

Had this same problem on mine too. Drove around with 20 miles left and shut it off, went back to car and started up and got the --- miles reading. Can anybody chime in?

The computer just can't calculate that close. The actual gas mileage is fluctuating, the gas is moving around in the tank. The gas gauge is still useful at the bottom end, but you're taking a chance relying on the DTE calc when the gas is near empty.

Not to mention, I'm sure Nissan doesn't want the liability of telling you that you're gonna run out in 1 mile..... people will count on that and then get mad if its incorrect and sue because their car left them stranded in the middle of a bad area. Best way is to show the dashes for anything below 1 remaining gallon of gas.

I've learned, through a year of consistant driving habits, exactly how many miles I have to go before running out. I use both the gas gauge and odometer to provide me details and I can consistantly fill my tank up with 18.4 gallons (not bad for a 19 gallon tank) of gas. I can say that winter driving is eating up about 50 miles per tank that I didn't expect. I suppose it's from warming the car, running the heater, different winter gas blend, colder temps, etc.
