By chance I was looking for a Nismo and I had three to choose from. I chose the gun metallic because I was tired of white cars and never liked silver. So I bought the gun metallic Nismo and didn't notice till I got home that it was #0001.

The Nismo has been around since 2009 and I have #0001 for 2011. I can somewhat understand your reasoning but an early production number is more desirable. Especially the very first in that color. I think Nissan worked out any kinks by 2011.

Yes, but every model year comes with changes. '12 brought the oil cooler thingy. '13 brought the different brake lines, brake fluid, wheel and caliper colors, different gas gauge face. It's not uncommon for the factory to find issues early in the production run (usually an issue with a parts supplier) and make changes, often times without ever letting anyone know. Software updates happen all the time.
