Key Fob/Alarm????

So when you lock the car with the button on the doors or the key fob its suppose to beep. and when you lock the doors twice with the key it should beep. tonight for some reason my car wont make any noise when locking the doors or unlocking using the key fob or the buttons on the side of the doors??? Does anyone know why? Thanks

I believe if you hold both lock and unlock buttons on the remote for a few seconds till the lights flash? it will enable the beep repeat this to cancel the beep

ScGRaceR 12-14-2010 12:24 PM

Correct, honk with remote, beep with button. But as Trip said the honk can be disabled/enabled by holding the buttons together. I've set mine to no honky mode.

I was wondering if you could disable the honky mode, I'll be de-honking mine. Thanks for the info.

So, I hate to bump such an old thread, but I haven't been able to find a solution to this problem.

The lock/unlock enables/disables the honk, but has nothing to do with the door chime, as in either mode I get no chime from the door buttons.

It mentions the door button chime in the manual, but not how to enable/disable it.

Any ideas?

Check the extended storage switch in the interior fuse box. Make sure to push it in all the way. If that doesnt work you could also remove the switch and check if the fuse is blown.

No worries on the bump, my issue is exactly the same. :icon17:

My research indicates the the DOOR REQUEST SWITCH (the lock/unlock button on the doors handles) can be set to OFF/HORN/BUZZER. BUZZER is the Intelligent Key beep that I assume is default (it has been on every Z that I know of). However, the FSM only indicates these can be changed via dealer software. Hopefully, there is a DIY solution.

I emailed the head tech at the dealer where my car is currently having some warranty work done, and he already responded saying that he would do his best to reply by the end of the day. I appealed to them as the only Nissan dealer left in the greater Austin area with the chance to earn my recommendation as a competent dealer, and that I would like to be able to steer other members of the Z community towards a dealer that I trust. I'll follow up as soon as I hear something back :tiphat:

I hope you are right but when I read through the Warning Chime System (WCS) in the 2009 FSM I got the impression that items could be turned on/off for testing purposes but no permanent changes were made. Ie, you can turn the buzzer on to see if it works but none of the sub-systems can be disabled/enabled/adjusted (other than the user-settable behaviors).

If you are right and changes can be made with CONSULT then the tuning software companies should be able to easily add a few settings.
