Fram Best Oil Filter!

Was searching around the web to see what oil and filter to use. During my search I found out that Fram oil filters are CRAP. There are tons of videos showing the inside guts of this and many other filters but the Fram, which I have been using for years with no problems, is poorly made and just looks embarassingly cheap. Then the average filter, which pretty much all the rest fall into, also have their shortcomings. Less pleats, paper filtration elements, etc. I've seen alot of ppl on here go with the K&N filters, they too have a paper element and made almost like the majority of others but costs 3x as much $$$. The only filters that I have come across worth the extra $ seems to be from Amsoil, or Fleetguard or Royal Purple. They have a synthetic nanofiber, which looks like it does more than all the rest. So what are you guys using in your nismos?

Not a Nismo but I like Wix or Amsoil.

If your one of those guys that changes their filters every 3k-5k....than it won't really matter. If you run synthetic oil for longer periods than it would be in your benefit to pick a much more heavy duty filter.

Use to change oil and filter every 3k miles, went with synthetic oil so I only had to do it every 6k miles. Some of the manufactures say you don't have to change it for 5k - 7k miles with conventional oil. Less oil changes is nice. If I could just change the oil once a year that would be great especially on the nismo. It looks a little more time consuming having to take off the plastic cover with its 16 - 19 bolts. There are many oils for longer durations until oil changes but no oil filters to match the oil. Going Royal Purple. The oil and filter change interval is 12k miles. Another interesting thing is Honda filters that you pay 4x as much for is the same piece of crap as a Fram. Wonder what the Nissan filter looks like and who makes it.

"The oil and filter change interval is 12k miles" wait, what???? you plan on changing the oil in your nismo every 12k miles? that is horrible!!!!

if your planning on using any ester based oil then you must maintain the 3 maybe 4k mile change interval. the natural ester oil will not last as long as a full synth.....

I use Purolator pure 1. No complain. My oil change intervals were determined by Blackston lab. The interval change from time to time. I'm at 7000 mille interval now.

^^ buy the red filter mag though! double the magnetic pull strength.

i just use the factory filter...

modme 12-01-2010 04:38 PM

Factory filter is one of the worst.

kenchan 12-01-2010 04:55 PM

yah but certified under OE validation testing... that's enough for me.
