Race Ramps
Looking to get a set so I can do oil changes and stuff. But wonder if they will clear a nismo..... Anyone have these for their nismo........do I need to get the extenders too?

according to this thread:
http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...eed-input.html you would need both the ramps as well as extenders. or you can wait til the new version of raceramps are created as the thread states |

Make your own ramp with 2x4's from Home Depot, I've seen it done several times and it works!!

Post a pic for reference por favor

Please do. I'd rather build one and use regular ramps then shell out 150+ for "race ramps." I'll probably shell out more money for aluminum undercover body with the oil access door.

no problem. will post pics tomorrow. the nismo is blocking view of them right now. however...they are 6 feet long and weigh about 30lbs each...not exactly portable

I think AK has a vid on Youtube with home made wooden extenders for his Rhino Ramps.

sorry for the mess...was in a rush to clean up the garage and drive :D they are 2x12's though, and about 6 feet long. 2x12's vs 2x10's were only something like 2-3 dollars more, and with the wider wheels i figured what the hey.. |
I copied Will's design here:
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k3...z/IMG_2984.jpg http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k3...z/IMG_2977.jpg Those are 2x10's. Total cost for screws + wood was a little over $20. |
Oh, I did not know that they were actual ramps. I was thinking of helper steps in order to get on the actual ramps without scraping the bottom. The idea I was thinking of was from this thread from G35 Driver:

Wooden ramps versus Race Ramps
Wooden ramps may be cost effective if 3-inches high is all you need. But if you want a 10" high ramp that you can safely work under with a 2-piece design that is easy to transport and store, you won't find a better alternative than Race Ramps.
If you build a 10" high ramp out of 2 x 10s you are likely to break your back trying to lift it and there is no way you are going to transport it in your car. I am sure a lot of people who get Race Ramps have buyer's remorse, especially when their spouse finds out how much they cost. But after you have used them once a big smile will spread across your face and you will be the envy of your car club buddies. :) |
