Retread Woes
A few months back I hit a piece of retread sitting in the fast lane of I-95.
Probably my fault for following the car in front of me too close but I didn't see it (the car in front of me actually kicked it up about 6") and hit it at 75-80 mph. Almost tore the front off the car. I got charged for all those plastic pieces to the tune of $3,800--well, my insurance company got charged lol. One good thing is all the places where the paint had been chipped off got replaced shiny new. Anyone else with stupid accident stories? |

Trucks are basically the only vehicles on the road that use retreads. Sometimes the retread delaminates especially if low on pressure and overheated.

I270 St Louis

Know the feeling as the same thing happened to me on the I270 on the North side of St Louis. 5 o'clock traffic and no place to go when a Semi in front of me exploded the left rear and it too wiped out my front end. New bumper cover and paint job for me. .

Its usually only in the hot weather guys. I own several concrete trucks and the standard tires cost me out the a$$. It sucks on both ends because I hit one the other day in my nismo with only 4,000 miles on it. My deductable is $1,000 bucks. Go figure.
