Stunner253

no, its not worth it. buy a body kit and some coilovers and you'll be good

Cell 11-05-2010 11:22 PM

I think it is worth it if you bought it from the get go. But you didn't. You may end up wasting more money trading it in. You mind as well keep what you have and just mod it.

:iagree:

fuct 11-06-2010 10:23 AM

i agree the nismo needs a nice set of coilovers and thats it.......

what body kits out there produce 150lbs of downforce? heated leather and nav are def not missed in my car. the nismo seats actually breath. my back sweats like a pig in the summer and these seats keep things fresh. everyone who sees my car says "MAN THE NORMAL Z LOOKS BORING AND NOT VERY AGGRESSIVE COMPARED TO THIS MODEL!"

i cant get gas without someone gawking and asking questions. to each his own, but i say do it!

tjlazer 11-06-2010 10:29 AM

How much would you lose in the trade?

i'm glad you like the nismo and get so many compliments on it  i think if the line of features it offers you as compared to the Touring/Sport Z are more up your alley then i think its a great buy. however, the buying new car, selling new car for a different version of the same thing=bad idea/ waste of money. you love your nismo, i love my Touring/Sport, but i wouldn't tell anyone to trade one for the other if they already have one.

I agree with you if the OP is going to be in the red financialy, but if not then switch!

stunner253 11-06-2010 12:07 PM

Thanks guys for the advice.. I went to the dealership yesterday just to see if what would happen if i tried to trade my car in (numbers/prices wise). It turn out that my payment only goes up $50 dollars so i was very tempted to do it.. My PW already has FI exhaust coilovers and black out headlights which is the dealer is willing to give it back to me..

thas awesome that they are willing to give it to you. your monthly payment only goes up $50 how much of a down payment did you put into your current car and how many monthy payments at what $/ month have you put in so far?

fuct 11-06-2010 12:19 PM

50*12=600
600*5 YEARS= $3000 extra for the nismo....

id do it especialy if you have an exhaust and coiloves lined up. gl!

only if the nismo was brand new with very low miles.

stunner253 11-06-2010 12:21 PM

Yea its pretty cool that they willing to do that.. i got my car february this year.. and its gonna be 5yrs term. i know $50 may not sounds much but in a long term it ads up, but man like i said $50 is not much lol!

The nismo only have 3200 miles on it its pretty low for that year, the car is clean :yum:

ChrisSlicks 11-06-2010 12:29 PM

I say keep the car you have and add the Nismo bits you like. Used Nismo suspensions go for cheap, body kit is easy. You'd be the only "Nismo" with Nav!

As far as the trade goes I wouldn't be willing to pay a penny more, your car is worth more than a Nismo.

tjlazer 11-06-2010 03:50 PM

Just buy the nismo body kit for it and get some rims. But it will cost you more than the increase per month...

cab83_750 11-06-2010 04:53 PM

Not speaking for the OP, but $50.00 a month ($1.67/day) is not going to put him in the red.

The 370Z is a 'splurge' item, so splurge another $50.00 a month. Go for it, and stop wishing for the next 60 months that "I wish I have a Nismo."

Life is too short.

I totally agree with you on that one bro thats why I went ahead and pulled the trigger and traded my PW for the Nismo! :happydance:
I loved my PW 370z but i know im gonna be loving my Nismo even more :)

ChrisSlicks 11-06-2010 06:43 PM

It's more than $50 a month in reality, that's just the payment change. He's also extending his payments by another year - real loss $7000.

Ghost 11-06-2010 08:47 PM

Depends on what you plan to do with the car.

Going to use it as a daily driver? No, don't get the Nismo.

Going to track it? Most certainly get the Nismo.

:iagree: theres more to factor in than monthly payment. if my monthly payment on my car were 500, and i paid off 90% of the car already and had only 5000 in principal left, trading it in, increasing my principal to 15,000 and decreasing my monthly payment to 450 would not be saving me any money.

the nismo isn't any more track ready than the base/sport. both wouldn't make it more than a few minutes on the track before overheating. its not like the stock suspension on the base Z is taken from a 1999 buick park avenue.

OP, congrats on the new car. post some pics.

either way, the OP did what he wanted. i'm curious to see how the mod transfering goes... do you still have your stock parts to put back on?

LuckyJinx 11-06-2010 09:00 PM

Right, wrong or indifferent, congratulations

I am sure you are happy now and that's all that matters. You are no different than other members switching to Mustangs or Corvettes.

Now how about some pics!!!!

It's my understand the Nismo 370 suspension/chassis is more track oriented. I compared the standard 370's ride quality to the Nismo and found the Nismo to be much stiffer.

It may not make a difference to you, but to some people its a big deal to have to deal with a stiff suspension of daily usage.

zero 11-06-2010 11:05 PM

Good luck with your financial decision. I love my touring Z with KW V3.

HA HA HA HA no way that math adds up - you are failing to include the amount of money he has spent on payments so far for his 09 PW...

Bingo!

cab83_750 11-07-2010 02:16 AM

OP,

don't let us rain on your parade. :). At least, it's a Nismo and not a Toyota 4-Runner. :) :)

Heck, I am looking at the cab myself at the present. They are looking for a black for me to replace my blk coupe. Hopefully, I can join your parade soon.

You probably test drove a Nismo with the spacers still on :) The Nismo is stiffer than stock but he had coilovers on his car. Other than the minor suspension changes (and lateral damper) the chassis are the same.

Anyways, congrats. Will be interested to hear an honest review of the differences once you've had some seat time.

Wrong the Nismo suspension is harsh as hell! I had it on my base for 2 months and it was too much. Great for a track car though!

most coilover kits have harsher spring rates than the nismo kit, and plenty of people DD with them.

But I also bet they have set the settings lower to allow the non gut wrenching ride quility too. Remember the Nismo springs are linear and are evenly harsh, as my Swift Spec R's seem to not be as linear (coils are not evenly spaced, which a true linear spring will.) and seem softer and OEM like but are overall a lot stiffer spring. (stiffest spring on the market for the 370Z)

My Hayabusa and work kept me busy all summer I didnt get to drive my Z for a while.. :)

370zHawaii 11-18-2010 04:50 AM

Interesting this topic came up, I bought a base last month, no Nismos supposed to come to island until next year....LIE the stealership lied!!!! Anywho, I have about 900 miles on my Z now and was thinking about taking the couple thousand dollar loss and getting a 2011 nismo only one on island that just came in this week. I researched the cost of setting up a base to Nismo and very very $$$$ it would be much cheaper for me to just take a hit and save $$$$ in the long run. My payment calculated would go up by about $50 as well but thats at 36 months. After reading this thread, I hope to be lucky one who gets to pick it up, and yes I will use it as a DD....I dont get this whole DD thing, cars are meant to be driven I cant drive it when I am 110 so why not enjoy it while I can, I wish I could get a GTR and use it as a DD:driving::happydance:

Update, went to stealership LIARS, I checked online in their inventory, yes 370Z Nismo in Stock!!, Called because my drive is from the top of the island to the bottom to verify they have. Salesperson response, "yes we have NEEZ MOE" would you like to schedule a test drive? My reply "yes yes please!!" Get to stealership 45 minutes later...(yes Hawaii is small takes about 45 minutes to drive from top point to bottom) .....to my surpise Nismo not in parking lot,...sales lady response "Oh you wanted a Nismo, we dont have Nismo.....but we have this nice sport package etc etc would you like to look at it....My delayed response...ummm yeah why not....thinking to myself this damn sales lady, I am going to scare her now!!! So get to test drive the Sport and with 29 miles on it I went crazy with it, unfortunately the lady tells me "now this is how this car is meant to be driven" she gets all excited and etc etc....damn you Nissan Sales LADY!!!:worship:
