Default Limiter?

Is the 155 top speed of the nismo the electronically limited speed or is it gear/redline limited... I would like to think it could pull more than that on the backstraight at VIR

Its electronically limited, but a tune will easily take that off.

You will not hit the speed limiter at VIR in a stock car, you'd need about 400whp.

cool deal... im seriously looking at a new nismo and will be tracking it in the s.e. area tracks. The evo I had a few years back would hit 150ish by the 0 marker on the backstraight, and i wondered if the better aero would get the nismo there.

Either your speedometer was way off or your car had some serious mods. I've only seen seriously prepped cars hit 150 at VIR.

it had about 365hp to the wheels... and it doesnt take all that much to get there. Most Z06's will do it. and it wasn't the speedo, done with telemetry setup. I was hoping that the 350hp and good aero would help the nismo...

You need some VERY long straights with a fast corner entering onto them in order to come anywhere close to 155mph in the 370Z. We couldn't top 130-135mph at Road America.

Could it be that it really isn't a good idea to go must faster than 155 in a Z, be it a Nismo Z or otherwise; at least not without some serious modifications?

I've been in various vehicles at very high speeds over the years; some were very stable and comfortable at those speeds and could probably cruise there for hours on end; and some were not so stable or comfortable...but all could "get there".

Just wondering out loud here.

The redline is configurable in the ECU, a reflash can change the redline. 155 mph speed limiter is also configurable.

The top speed of the Nismo isn't likely going to be higher. The extra downforce created by the bodywork creates additional drag at high speed.

A tune will remove the speed limiter. Red line is the same on all 370Zs. I will sell you mine for $50k
