Very cool I'm on similar path with my Nismo. I'm hoping to get 350 WHP with little better torque curve. curious how much lightweight flywheel impacts dyno numbers?

Alrighty then, here is what went down. Got the Z back on the road tonight. First I reset the computer then did the install (Normal proceedure for myself). Im pretty good at soldering now, lol. From my experience it took a while for the computer to respond (Compared to Berks HFC's). I think in my experience that it was because there is so much less back pressure in the exhaust. Car never had a CEL but did have a hard time at idle for a while. The more I drove it the better it got. From 5 to 75 the car has so much punch. It is like night and day. The clutch engagement is smoother do to less torque(back pressure) at lower rpms. Does this make your car louder? Not in my opinion. At idle it is very quite. It seems to flow so free that it struggles to idle a tune. At higher rpm's it does seem to have some rasp. Or I think. Sounds like someone dropped redrider bb's in my tailpipes. We'll see after I get some more miles logged on. I always use Z1's anti foulers in my secondary 02's as well.

I just recently got the whole oil consumption thing going on. Either I did not top it off all the way or its burning some. I had some valve train noise with a half to 3/4's low on the dip stick. I filled it to the full line and my ride is running as smooth as ever. No noise at all. It seems to me that these motors need topped off to run efficient. My next oil change will be with standard 10w30 castroll (not synthetic). Just an update to each there owne

Sorry to be so slow with my updates but I have had way to much on my plate with work, other rides, and a custody battle which is my first priority. If the shop is free I will be dynoing this friday. I have about 500+ miles on the car since my header install so the computer should be up to par with the changes. I hope the dyno man isn't to busy. Anyways has anyone tried the motordyne intake manifold on a stock tuned nismo. Ive been reading alot on it and it seems the result are up in the air. I wonder what it will do with a factory nismo tune. From what I have read if you have an uprev tune it sucks but if you have the stock tune its good. I think I will try it next rather than a CBE. Like I said sorry for being slow with the results just alot going on.!!

Ok so I know im well overdue for updates so here goes. I went to CIN motorsports last saturday to get the tune. Since my last dyno pulls (about a year ago) I have added F.I. longtubes and a motordyne intake manifold. Keep in mind that my first dyno was performed on a DynoJet (310hp/256tq) and my latest was performed on a Mustang Dyno. For my base run I put down 309hp and 250tq. Being that this was a mustang dyno I believed these numbers to be in the ballpark since I put on more mods and came up with lower numbers. After about two hours of tuning I came out with 333hp & 274tq.. To me this seems a little high but the car does perform alot better now. It has a real smooth power band that pulls real consistant the whole way through. Also when I shift from second to third the car wants to come sideways

nice! they squeezed out something like 15 or 20 hp out of bryan's 350z a few weeks ago that had been tuned before. they are miracle workers up there at CIN!

Nice I'm wanting 335whp what was your stock baseline before you started your upgrades I just got my base of 295.1 whp I just installed G3's so need to go back hope to be at 315 but more like 309 or something then with a tune maybe 320 which is not to bad... I thought about doing a long tube headers but I want cats and I don't like the sound of our cars with some of the exhaust and test pipes sound like.. but did you like the way yours changed with the headers added. Also check out my YouTube tell me what you think of the way it sounds I have a couple fly bus at 90 mph or so just the being of third gear. It's. thebigboi1980/YouTube

I really couldnt tell that big of a difference in sound when I installed the headers. I went from berks HFC's to the headers so thats probably why. I am also still running the factory nismo exhaust. Just placed my order for the FI cat back so once I get it installed I will go back to the tuner to make sure everything is right with the tune. |

Yea I think its a little high too. Like I posted before my first pull without the tune was less than my dyno jet pull without the headers so I think its fairly close. Im trying to get back to the dyno jet at my buddies shop but he kinda isnt open to the public anymore so im kinda at his disposal. I just ordered my cat back so after its installed and I go back to cin for the final tune I will most deffinately get back on a dyno jet for some final comparison numbers... |
