OK I finally got around to installing my longtube headers. I highly recommend paying someone to do this project unless you are a very very patient person. If you do it yourself dont be in any hurry. The engine compartment is so packed, and now my hands and arms are cut to h*ll. The hardest part for me was accessing the 02 sensor plugs and that each bolt came out only a 1/4 turn at a time. I used about five or six different configurations of ratcheting from 3/8s to 1/2 inch drives with extension, swivals, etc... Once I got it all tore down the new headers went in fairly smooth. I did have one major issue with the install though. When it comes to removing the 02 sensors from the stock manifolds it is a B#%ch!!!! The first one did not want to come out at all. I had to work the threads back and forth till it finally decided to thread out. Once it did I noticed no threads on the sensor ($325.00 down the drain). I called Tony and he gave me some pointers on removing the second one. Once I did this I was missing just a few threads from the second sensor (another $325.00 down the drain) Yes these mother F*#%king 02 sensors are $650.00 for the pair. What a rip off!!! Anyways everything is bolted up now and im waiting on the sensors to arrive. Once I get it on the road ill give an update.

^^^ Yikes -- sorry about the sensors.

Will you be re-dynoing?

wow! Sorry to hear about all your trouble...i thought the demon bolt was bad when i put in my test pipes...yikes

Yea I will be dynoing. I might wait untill it starts to warm up just a bit until I do. My first dyno was done in 75 degree weather so I dont want my post header run to be in the 40 degree range in which it is now. For those doing this project yourself soak the 02's with PB Blaster over and over for at least a full day or so. It might help. Wish I knew ahead of time. BTW my car only has 2,800 miles so its not like its rusted up or anything.

Very cool I'm on similar path with my Nismo. I'm hoping to get 350 WHP with little better torque curve.

curious how much lightweight flywheel impacts dyno numbers?

I wouldn't worry too much about it. You'll be indoors and should go by SAE corrected numbers anyway ;)

Just remember to do at least 4-6 pulls. ECU needs a few runs to adjust. I guess you could do it on the road, but it will load differently on the dyno, so might need to do the extra pulls anyway to hit the map cells that will be affected when dynoing.

Alrighty then, here is what went down. Got the Z back on the road tonight. First I reset the computer then did the install (Normal proceedure for myself). Im pretty good at soldering now, lol. From my experience it took a while for the computer to respond (Compared to Berks HFC's). I think in my experience that it was because there is so much less back pressure in the exhaust. Car never had a CEL but did have a hard time at idle for a while. The more I drove it the better it got. From 5 to 75 the car has so much punch. It is like night and day. The clutch engagement is smoother do to less torque(back pressure) at lower rpms. Does this make your car louder? Not in my opinion. At idle it is very quite. It seems to flow so free that it struggles to idle a tune. At higher rpm's it does seem to have some rasp. Or I think. Sounds like someone dropped redrider bb's in my tailpipes. We'll see after I get some more miles logged on. I always use Z1's anti foulers in my secondary 02's as well.

I just recently got the whole oil consumption thing going on. Either I did not top it off all the way or its burning some. I had some valve train noise with a half to 3/4's low on the dip stick. I filled it to the full line and my ride is running as smooth as ever. No noise at all. It seems to me that these motors need topped off to run efficient. My next oil change will be with standard 10w30 castroll (not synthetic). Just an update to each there owne

I'm excited to hear how the LTH affect your dyno numbers. When is the next dyno appointment?

Hopefully within the next two weeks!! I tried to do it last Saturday but he was to busy.

Rooskey 05-05-2011 01:20 AM

Sorry to be so slow with my updates but I have had way to much on my plate with work, other rides, and a custody battle which is my first priority. If the shop is free I will be dynoing this friday. I have about 500+ miles on the car since my header install so the computer should be up to par with the changes. I hope the dyno man isn't to busy. Anyways has anyone tried the motordyne intake manifold on a stock tuned nismo. Ive been reading alot on it and it seems the result are up in the air. I wonder what it will do with a factory nismo tune. From what I have read if you have an uprev tune it sucks but if you have the stock tune its good. I think I will try it next rather than a CBE. Like I said sorry for being slow with the results just alot going on.!!

Uprev tuned w/ FI LTH's

Ok so I know im well overdue for updates so here goes. I went to CIN motorsports last saturday to get the tune. Since my last dyno pulls (about a year ago) I have added F.I. longtubes and a motordyne intake manifold. Keep in mind that my first dyno was performed on a DynoJet (310hp/256tq) and my latest was performed on a Mustang Dyno. For my base run I put down 309hp and 250tq. Being that this was a mustang dyno I believed these numbers to be in the ballpark since I put on more mods and came up with lower numbers. After about two hours of tuning I came out with 333hp & 274tq.. To me this seems a little high but the car does perform alot better now. It has a real smooth power band that pulls real consistant the whole way through. Also when I shift from second to third the car wants to come sideways . I am very satisfied with CIN and my cars performance. BTW I also averaged an increase of 30hp and 20tq along the whole rpm range. Once they email me the run files I will be posting them for all to see..

HKYStormFront 10-07-2011 11:24 PM

nice! they squeezed out something like 15 or 20 hp out of bryan's 350z a few weeks ago that had been tuned before. they are miracle workers up there at CIN! :woot:

Rooskey 10-15-2011 04:07 PM

Well they never emailed me the run files so this will have to do. I was pleased with the overall results and was really happy with the average gains aswell
