Stillen front plate bracket... does it fit?
 

Does anyone know if the stillen front plate bracket will fit our nismo? I know it fits the regular Z.

it should fit if u get it long enough, it shows 3 sizes

I called STILLEN to make sure that the tow hook that they give fits.

It DOES NOT fit with the nismo bumper. It needs an extension or some sort of modification for it to fit.

Does anyone have any solutions?

unless you own a machine shop then no. my company builds large and medium generators for the oil industry. i had them cut it, then weld in a piece of 3-1/4" aluminum stock. they grinded it back down and i painted it black...

Sadly, no lol. I do not know anyone that works with aluminum.

its actually not a lot of work just a bit time consuming. had my shop actually charged me for labor it would have been a couple hours of work plus the actual part from stillen. not cheap for a license plate holder but where i live they will pull you over once you pull outa your drive way for no plates.

You should be able to go into any hardware store and purchase a metric threaded extension.

for the tow hook side?? that would be a heck of a part for any local hardware store.... please show me this part if you can!

Kind what I was thinking about, but I'm not running the Stillen tow hook plate mount. If someone has it and doesn't mind measuring how much clearance they need, I'd definitely be willing to help you out.

Can someone just fabricate one for the Nismo already and sell it so I can rip the dealer permit off my windshiled? Until I find a solution it will remain on my windshield and I'm not mounting any plates front or back and will keep my fingers crossed =P

i did tell you guys, its 3 1/4". you need to extend the entire length 3 1/4"

not to be a jerk, buuuuuuut what happened fellas? i thought it was as easy as going to home depot and getting some hardware.....

I personally haven't even gone to the hardware store to look for an extension. Just being lazy I guess.

I will go check for it when I go by it or something. The thing is, my bumper has the drilled holes already so I am in no rush for the extension. Would be different if I didn't have my front plates on.

I'll see what I can do when I get back to the States, but that'll be in June.

Also, I sent an email to Stillen to see if they would perform the mod, possibly make a Nismo kit since fuct already did the R&D.

cut, add 3-1/4" aluminum stock, weld, sand, paint. :)

I ordered one from Carrera,Cayman,BMW,Tow Hook License Plate,John Deere,Kubota the guy custom made it, so if you need one just email him.

Not sure if you've settled on one of the previous solutions yet, but I recently got a no plate-ticket and had to find one too.

If you're willing to give up your tow-hook (which I was) you can take it to a machine-shop and have them cut the loop off around where it starts to taper off. He then welded a ~8 inch extension on and tapped it with a standard bolt size (8mm I think). Then took an aluminum rectangle stock, drilled it with a recessed hole to attach to the tow hook, and tapped the corners with a smaller bolt size to fit the license plate.

Painted it black and it looks pretty solid. Cost me about 120 bucks, but the cop basically promised he'd be back to look for me :/.

Any machine shop should be capable of this...let me know if you're interested and I can get exact specs and pics if you'd like.

So I couldn't get the main towhook off or the rectangle stock without taking a wrench to it and jacking up my super-professional paint job...BUT, here's some pics of it on.

As far as the specs, the smaller plate bolts are 11mm, which the stock is tapped with (no nuts to hold the bolts on the back). The tow hook extension is tapped with a 3/4" bolt, which is probably gonna be the machine shop's call on what threading they can tap it with.

Nope, aluminum. It's just painted flat black with some rustoleum....didn't really go all out on the paint, but you can hardly tell it's there now that it blends in with the black in the grill.

...The grill does kind of an optical illusion too on the way I took that pic...looks like the bottom is kind of warped or curved or something. It's really a rectangle though...I swear.

they should work, but I don't know what the thread type/diameter is supposed to be. They have them on M6 x 1.0 .. M8 x 1.25 .. M10 x 1.5 .. M12 x 1.75 .. M16 x 2.0 .. M20 x 2.5 .. M24 x 3.0

Anyone knows which is the correct one?


Edit: looking at Stillen's website I think its a 24mm thread so it would be M24 x 3.0...right?

the first link might work. you only need one theaded end if you can get the exact length you need. im interested in how much they want for only one???

I was thinking on getting both pieces in order to extend the stillen one. But I :facepalm: myself lol, now that you mention it they do have a 300mm (11.8in) long piece that will work, I think the minimum you need for clearance is 10.5in so its just a matter of shortening it so that the plate does not stick out too much. Then just attach a metal plate to the other end and that's it! Website says $14.40 for the 12inch stud. I emailed them for pricing on those pieces I posted before but they have yet to answer. I will call them tomorrow, this looks like an under $30 lp holder :)
