trouble in nismo land...

I just wanted to share my troubles with everyone... maybe get some insight on what i should be expecting, or look out for...

So I purchased a 2010 Nismo 370z about 2 and a half months ago... well, it was damaged during a severe storm, and my insurance company total lossed it.. the entire thing was paid for, no worries.... The dealership found me another 370z nismo.... magnetic black, only 12 miles on it... i was extatic... anyway, The wife and myself go to pick up the new Nismo, and signing of the papers and whatnot was all of 10 minutes.. my payments even went down. i was pretty happy.... 38 miles on the ODO and the check engine light comes on and the car dies... wtf? the dealership sends a flat bed to get my car.. they look at the code and its bank two of the VVEL? well, they toss me a loaner car, and tell me they will get it up and running...
a few days later the guy at the dealership calls and asks, do i want red or black? and explains they are trying to get me a new car....
ok, no worries yet again... but today i talked to the dealership and they said that either they are getting me a new car, which is kind of hard since the numbers are limited and a lot of Nismo's are spoken for.. or if they get the harness they need to fix the car, they will put it in, but i was told.. "if they replace the harness, Nissan will make you very happy" what does that even mean?
Now, here is what i am concerned about... am i going to have to make payments on the laon, even tho i don't have the car...? i asked this question, but was told they would get back to me... and what do you suppose the dealer ment when he said nissan intended to make me very happy....

Well if you decide to just keep it and have them repair it, however long it takes to get it repaired, you will be making your monthly payments, yes sir! But it's under warantee so don't worry about it.

its not up to me if it gets repaired.. its based on what happens 1st, new car comes in, or harness... but damn... i hate paying for **** i don't have... :shakes head:

Why don't you ask the dealer what they mean?
Also, if they didn't run the loan paperwork, then you won't have to make any payments. If they ran the paperwork, which they probably did, you'd have to pay.
Bottom line, ask the dealer instead of guessing.

Jordo! 07-26-2010 10:16 PM

They sold you a lemon. Tell them you either want a working Nismo or you want your money back.

And, yes, once you sign the paperwork, you are responsible for paying off the car even if your drive it into a swamp.

If Nissan is going to "make you happy", they're sure off to a bad start...

when it 1st happened and we got back to the dealership, i said, i think i want the next one in red...

specZ 07-27-2010 12:24 AM

make your payments to be on the safe side... you can always recover your money down the road if the dealership did not live up there end of the deal(in this case a functioning new car)

fuct 07-27-2010 09:08 AM

i would just wait and get a new nismo. yes you will be making payments and what not, but this is a car you will have for a long time.

Isamu 07-28-2010 06:59 PM

ok, so i guess they are getting a new harness from japan... hrm.. anyway,
they are still trying to get their hooks on another nismo.. black, or my second choice red... however, the Nissan Regional manager came down and told them that regardless of what happens they are going to redraw the loan contract and shave about 3000$ off... so i guess my trouble is worth 3k. considering they did give me a loan vehicle...

fuct 07-30-2010 02:34 PM

loaner should have been free. 3 k off.... ehhhh if you paid invoice and are now getting three off then thats decent. if you paid more than invoice your getting hosed.

gl with it bro.

shabarivas 07-30-2010 03:16 PM

**** that - tell em you want a brand new one or you are going elsewhere

Cmike2780 07-30-2010 03:34 PM

I would have asked for a free extended warranty for peace of mind, along with the price reduction. A faulty harnest doesn't mean the whole car is a lemon.

Define very happy...

does that mean one of these particular ladies
http://www.the370z.com/gentlemans-cl...read-nsfw.html
will come and give you a happy ending?
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l2...sa/370Z/P1.jpg

On a serious note, they need to give you a legitimate answer in writing - like maybe pay 1/4 of the payments on your car - that would make me happy....

or a happy ending every time I make a payment on the car....

i bought a nismo 2 weeks ago and at 200 miles the sycros in the tranny became out of alignment and would make a nasty grind going into 6th gear dealer ordered new transmission and upon installing it scratched the front bumpber driver door and rear quater panel. also gashed up center counsel and center cup holder so now all of it has to be painted/replaced and I havnt even made my first payment on it. makes me sick

That's Awful! Because of some similar experiences like yours, I have always hated taking cars in for warranty work.

At the minimum, you might want to consider using a different dealership to do your repair work, as your existing dealer has amply demonstrated that it has little regard for your brand new car. However, I recommend you get Nissan USA involved and demand a new Nismo for the damage and inconvenience you've been through.

got the nismo back, works great!.... Nissan of america is giving me 3 payments worth of cash for all my trouble...

yea me too!! and thank you!
only issue i seem to have now, is passenger window does roll up, after the door is closed.. *sigh* lol

roplusbee 08-30-2010 11:31 AM

Use the reset procedure. It works 99% of the time. Didn't work for me, but that was because my passenger window motor was bad. The dealer replaced the window motor and switch panel. Gotta love it.

I have had all of the documented "issues" with my 2009 NISMO and the dealer just fixed them as they happened. Good luck with your car. Hope you don't feel the pain that I felt (although the dealer reduced it with warranty work).

Rob

yea, i was going to try that today but its been raining like a mother.. and my 300zx is in the garage with the wheels off... tomorrow after work im going to put her back together so i can garage the nismo...
but yea, the 3 car payments makes me happy :) and the service department, although its 4 hours away, is awesome!

roplusbee 08-30-2010 06:50 PM

Just make sure you do the reset procedure with the door closed. You may have to do it 2 or more times, but it should work unless you have problems with the electronics. Just so that you know, I have had both windows worked on by the dealer. Driver's side had a faulty switch (the one in the door jam) and the passenger side switch panel and window motor were replaced.

Isamu 08-31-2010 05:03 PM

I did the reset and it works perfectly! ty again!

roplusbee 09-01-2010 09:36 PM

Woohoo!

Isamu 09-03-2010 12:30 AM

roplusbee 09-03-2010 11:56 PM
