scrapping the lip
 

Hey there, last night when I was sitting down just staring at the beauty of my girl I noticed that there was a scrape on the front lip. It's a pain to know she's already hurt, but my question is there any way to protect it from further damage once I repaint it? Without going over the limit of $100 or if possible over $50? All options are needed Thanks !

There's really not too much you can do. You could put clear bra material on that part but i doubt that'd do much good.

I have a bunch on mine but my car's sitting pretty low due to the coilovers. Just make sure you enter driveways/ramps/etc. at an angle.

If youre talking about the top,then yea a clear bra would noticeably help. Now if you're talking about the underside, you can forget about it as its not even painted!If you look closely, the lip is textured on the lower half which means you you really cant repair that.
I have a Black Z so this might be diffferent for the other colors.

Ah.. so it is useless really? My lip was scrapped from underside to the outside a bit so I had it repainted ASAP, so pictures would kind of be useless. Sorry m4a1mustang. In general all the lip spoilers are bound to get scrapped with no rememedy?

Yes. Especially on the underside. Driveways, curbs, speedbumps, ramps, etc. Unless you can avoid all of these and drive on the street, you will eventually scape the bottom diffuser on something. If you are running stock ride height, you might be able to avoid it though.

yeah man i feel your pain no hope except maybe a clear protective screen guard but that will scratch also though

Don't scrap the lip.
It's one of the things that makes the Nismo look cool!

I try not to and yes, I am riding stock height. It's just so sad when I hear the noise. :( So sad it's unavoidable..

yeah pretty much unavoidable..im on H&R's and i scrap everytime i drive...its on the bottom to it really doesnt bother me..

Just came over from the Porsche world to Z-NismoVille... With the GT3's we used to take a 1/8th sheet of aluminum cut to shape and bolt it to the underside of the lip to both add strength and also make it less visible when there are (and there will be of course) scratches from parking stops, curbs, road gators (truck treads laying in the street) but at least this gives you a harder than plastic surface with which to fight back!

What you might be able to do is fit a piece of SLOTTED rubber molding over the entire length of the edge of the lip of the chin spolier so that the molding takes the scrape instead of the lip under it. Shouldn't cost more than about $10 to do and 5 minutes to slip the slot of the molding over the lip edge.
