They say for every 100 lbs = roughly -.01 for your ET at the end of the 1/4 mile. A rule of thumb of course but the NISMO ways about 70lbs more than a base with sport pkg. I think that extra 70lbs might even it out in straights. Plus there have already been exhausts dyno proven to put about an extra 18hp to the fly wheel anyway. I think that a non NISMO will see a much better gain from lets say the FI cat back vs a NISMO Z. Reason is because if the NISMO's exhaust is designed to allow the gases to exit faster than its alreayd doing part of the job that a true dual exhaust will achieve. The tune I don't know much about but I would imagine they basically leaned it out and the 400 extra rpms is done with an ECU respec anyway and more. In the end, if you modded BOTH cars with the same parts and tuned both cars, I think the power would be nearly identicle. I don't know of any members who own NISMO's and have modded their car beyond the almost normal intake and cat back, but I bet you the NISMO won't see as big of a gain since both engines are the same, except one is already tweaked. If I were going to buy a NISMO, it wouldn't be because of the extra 18hp, it would be because of everything that comes with it, including the name.

The rev limit is the same in the Nismo. The 8100 redline guys typically have Cobbs.

Interesting. The exhaust set up on the Nismo is almost identical to the setup of my Borla dual exhaust.

I'm extremely new here so please go easy on me (unless I say something absolutely stupid - which might actually occur in this post ). I've been reading alot about the Nismo 370Z and many folks say all the extra stuff is "overpriced" and some actually say its "a waste of money". Could somone actually outline with real data what it would take to modify a Base 370Z with Sports Package to be equal to or better than a Nismo 370Z? For the sake of argument, let's use MSRP so everything is equal (conservative in my opinion) and call it $7,000 difference in cost between the two and let's assume I am a capable person that can do some car work myself. What could I do to Base+SP for that amount? The best possible outcome would be a car faster in the straights and the twisties so let's shoot for that.

I just went to AAM and grabbed a few SKUs so here we go...
AAM 2.5" Dual Exhaust (Better than the NISMO) - $1,295.00 KW Coilovers (Better than the NISMO) - $2,095.00 Cobb AccessPort (Better than the NISMO) - $695.00 Cobb Tuning (You won't have the software required) - approx. $150 (just a guess) Total: $4,235 I think Forged also has wheels and such so here: Advan Wheels (Only ones on their site with a price) - $2,350 (These are 18's so 19's will be more, so we'll say $3,000 to be conservative) Grand Total: $7,235 Keep in mind that all of these components will be BETTER than the NISMO, except maybe the wheels. Also you will be lacking the Body Kit as well as the Dampers. Performance-wise the Cobb, Struts/Springs, and Exhaust are really the only things worth worrying about.

Speaking of Cobb, do they support the NISMO ECU? UPREV??? I sent Cobb an email about it, but haven't received a reply. Just curious if any current NISMO guys have gone with one of the tuning solutions.

Nissan can change maps all they want. If someone hasn't done it already I'll try to download a factory map for my car when I finally get around to getting a tune. It'll be a while tho heh.

Roger that. I may go with AAM's TT kit, but that won't be for a little while (if I actually do it). I am also contemplating staying NA and going with the F.I. LTHs and CBE (trading my BERK GB#2 spot). Either way I plan on getting a tune, but we will see what happens. When I get back to the States, I plan on hitting some of the meets/cruises around your area. Thanks Vipor.

Coilovers will give you not only ride height options but also stiffness adjustments. The NISMO "tune" is really not very well known about, while COBB will allow you to have many different customizable maps for things like MPG, Everyday, Track, Drag, and even Valet mode (which I love.) The maps are stored within the unit and can be changed easily in a parking lot.
