Default Z1 Intake - first mod super stoked

I bought my 2014 Nismo brand new in August of 2014. It had 3 miles on it when I test drove it and had 7 on it when I bought it. Pearl white, the two tone grey, the stock widebody rear end, and oh the wheels.

Admittedly now it was too expensive of a car from me, but I was young and not as financially intelligent at the time and had to have it. I have less than 11k miles on it so I still hadn't been driving it much. But that is all changing now.

I've modded cars before - but never the Nismo since I still had high payments. Refinanced the payments to much lower, got a bonus at work, and had a nice tax return so I knew it was time.

The Z1 Intake was my first mod, mainly because I didn't want to have to cut the plastic radiator support. It was a pretty easy install. It's not my daily so yesterday I took everything off and then today I put all the new parts in.

I'm not sure what direction to go with next...I've read that test pipes (which I would purchase high flow cats) really open up the exhaust. I've also looked at some headers. I considered a catback but I'm not exactly sure how much gain that will give over the Nismo exhaust.

this is like the second or third person recently to refer to "widebody"

you know that the Nismo . . . isn't a widebody, right? all Z's are the same body, just with different bumpers and side trim.

where do people learn this stuff?

Grab Jon by the ear@Z1 & ask about the exhaust & the 400hp kit they offer.
most people w/manual trans. end up w/330+whp...this includes a custom dyno-tune & UpRev' has released new software allowing them to enhance the tuning better than before.
If you don't plan to boost anytime in the near future;this will give you the most gain's.

Just go boosted if you plan to keep it. Adding cats and headers will only get you marginal gains.

@ OP why Z1 over Still G3 ? I ask cause I'm thinking of installing a C.A.I. next, other than the price difference (which isn't much) any other reason?

The biggest reason for me was that I didnt want to have to cut into the front core support. The silicone hoses for the lower portion of the Z1 intake will make a more oval like shape to fit through the holes so there is no cutting required.

Not sure with the '16 nismo but in the '14 there is also a black bracket riveted to the crash bar. There are two L shaped brackets that face back to back with a nut on the top connecting to what i would call an upper support bar.

I took those nuts off and pulled the L shape pieces to whatever side they were on and then bent the larger black metal piece down to where it is sitting parallel with the crash bar (right behind it). You might actually be able to leave those L pieces on I'm not sure. But you dont have to remove those two plates they are pretty easy to bend so that the end up going straight down. I'd send pics but I didnt take any - you'll know what I'm talking about once you take the bumper off.

Awesome!!!
I'll more than likely go with Z1 C.A.I .
Anybody out there with the 15+ year nismo have any trouble with fitment with Z1 C.A.I. or still G3?

Unsure the difference in 15' Nismo to 11' Base...but no issues with fitment;as I have since upgraded my Z1 kit to their hi-flow version & fabricated the crash bar & I did choose to open up my upper core support a bit.

What's the difference between Z1 C.A.I. and the hi-flow version?
