NISMO cheapskate
Hello, so I'm actually already thinking ahead and so information upfront would be great, in March I want to buy a pearl white NISMO, but I've heard a few times tech package isn't worth the money is this true? Can I get some kind of up to date 2017 backup cam GPS installed that's better and worth a higher value? If so anyone who has done this could give me information on that what they insatleld the price difference and If it's a better outcome?
Thanks |

There are backup camera options in aftermarket i'm sure but i got the tech just to get bluetooth and the backup camera from the factory, less modification of electronics

Listen....get the Tech Package...you will be glad you did...why...you don't have to go through headaches of installing any aftermarket audio, not to mention...I have toyed with many back up cams....and Navi systems...there is nothing like that perfect OEM fitment and look...based on my install experience....the one thing I may change in the future is the speakers...Bose is good....but not great IMHO...I like my sounds clean and crisp....Bose doesn't do it for me....going to sound deaden before I switch the Bose speakers...might make a difference I am sure it will...anyway Nismo with Tech is pure win...
My first Nismo 09SR had the base audio...swapped it out with aftermarket stereo and it was great..but that was a $2k investment with the audio equipment I selected...it can be done for much cheaper....I did the install myself...shops wanted $4K. Getting the PW 2017 Nismo with Tech was the best decision for me...at first I thought I had made a mistake...I was wrong...oh...more one important thing for me...the steering wheel controls and answering the phone works flawlessly with OEM Tech...aftermarket had glitches and was not perfect...I am a perfectionist so yeah..... Comes down to your preference and wallet, also...when you sell or trade your car higher value audio doesn't really mean anything to most buyers as long as the stereo works speaking from from my dealings...however the back up cam....may mean more to them...I am on my 4th 370z, 2nd Nismo...and the Tech would be my choice. Good luck on your future purchase and congrats on selecting on of the most fun and best looking cars to drive! |

The main issue with factory nav is that it sucks. The look of the hardware is nice, but the interface and mapping system is so dated. You can update the maps, but you have to pay for a DVD and I saw a video where the guy said it took hours to update the maps.
The best option is to have android auto or apple car play, but Nissan will never bother putting that into the 370z since it's been out for so long now. And I don't think they put it in any of their cars. If you like modifying, or coming up with a creative set-up, go for aftermarkets. If you just want something that is from the factory and covered under warranty, go with the Nissan version. If you go aftermarket, shop around for shops. You can always find a review of a place these days. And I'm sure many people here could recommend good shops if you live in the same area as any member here.

IMO, The most important thing in any audio system is the sound deadening. The Bose in this car is decent and you can definitively improve it by soundproofing the car... without even changing speakers.

Check the Nismo 2017 registry for OTD pricing. Shop around, when I purchased mines local dealer wanted 48k....another dealership that was over 2 hours away wanted 42k. This was not OTD..got it for 44k OTD at my local dealership after hours and hours of negotiations, mind you this price also included all upgraded warranties, with wheel, interior xylon and exterior paint protection as well as Gap. I am sure you could get a better price than I did just shop around.

I got a base z (that's what I wanted) but when I ordered my car I had them install the home link mirror and back up camera. There is a little LCD screen that pops up in the mirror when you put the car into R and then switches back to a regular mirror. Works perfect. Let me know if you want me to post pics?

Wow guys, thank you for all the replies, I'll reply directly when I'm at home I hate texting, I do have a question, doesn't the NISMO as the top sub model come with everything, I mean NISMO tech package...Like the illuminum kikc plates, back up cam? Mats? Am I wrong? If so I need to make my list I guess, also can anyone at all tell me how clearance ground clearance is and if anyone has had an issue my driveway, is kind of bad it's not a normal one out in the sticks..i mention this cause it's been on my mind like crazy I'd have to move before I got the car if that's what it comes to but I'd rather not that's why I'm bringing this up..I'll upload pictures when I get home but if you guys could make show me pics of your driveway or if you have had clearance issues that would be great, thanks.
