14' Nismo vs 15' Nismo?
2 Attachment(s)
I understand that 2015 has more options coming in automatic, new seats, includes navigation, etc.
But from the looks of the 14' Nismo and 15'/16' Nismo, which do you think is better, and why? Red specifically https://www.google.com/search?q=2014...fHzxzhnBtwM%3A https://www.google.com/search?q=2014...R0c7EVqC1yM%3A |
I personally went with the 14 for the more aggressive body kit and suspension. I also wanted the 1 year color combo.
|
I stared at the pictures for 5 minutes and still can't decide which one I prefer. They both look aggressive in their own way. Is there a significant difference in price?
|
I like both, but with the exception of the two tone Nismo wheels, the 15 wins out by a hair.
|
Imo its just little things, the recaros in the 15+ are amazing. The front end alone did it for me vs the 14. The slightly bigger final drive, doesnt matter if you are going 4.08. I think its personal preferance on body style
|
The front / rear is awesome on the 15 /16. And oh my those Recaros are something else.
|
Ima say the '15/16 (for obvious reasons... body kit, recaros, etc.) but I will say that I struggle with the two different red tones in this particular color. In this case that's the one department where I think the '14 gets a win...
|
14 because of the 1 year two tone color the body kit and numbering. I dont know why i like the 15 side skirts more but i do

14 has the better looking wheels to

14' Nismo vs 15' Nismo?
What I like about each one:
14- better wheels, stiffer suspensions, more aggressive spoiler, 1 year color combo, last year of Nismo limited numbering. 15- Recaro seats, blacked housing headlights, DRL. Can't go wrong with either, but me being OCD, the 15 in red looks off with the the different shade of red accents.. Imo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
agreed with TriNismo and i was in this same boat back in april..but unless you get a hell of a deal off the 14 id just go with the 15, because the recaros alone are worth like $6k EACH from dealer(seats are sold top and bottom separate pieces, brackets, tax, install etc). Suspension is bit more livable for day to day and if youre into performance you will probably get coils anyway.
I also recall reading the body kit on the 15 is like a few inches shorter than the 14..6 inches i think? |
I recently purchased my pearl white 15 Nismo. Love it! I like the look of the 15/16 a little more then the 14. Get compliments almost every day I drive it. I like the wheels on the 14 a little more but the Recaro seats and exterior body just won me over.
|
When I bought mine they had the 15 NISMO, 14 NISMO, Standard coupe, and roadster all lined up. The 14 is noticeably longer. The NISMO's stood out from the pack with out a doubt. My wife actually thought the 14 NISMO was a completely different car than the other Z's. Probably one of the points that sold her.
|
IMO
14- Better front, wheels, spoiler 15- Better seats, drl |
14 - better wheels
15 - better body kit/ seats |
I went with the '14 because I didn't like the four color choices of the '15 or the loss of the rear spoiler. I understand the '15 actually gains more down force with the new aero but it loses aesthetics (for me). I do like the side skirts and front aero treatment of the '15 and would love to have the seats.
|
Idk about that one... i have the 15 nismo and i pulled up next to a 14 nismo guess wich one was getting more attention the 15 and no im not just saying that cus i have the 15 i also stay in south cali and theres alot of competition out here but tbh this car stands out ALOT way more then the 14 due to ppls reactions and comments, i remember when i saw the 15 in pics i didnt like it at all so i waited to see it in person cus i also didnt like the rims either but when i saw it in person i fell in love with the 15 the rims look way better in person trust!!!! And ppl are saying the spoiler from the 14 is better thats actually not true i made my research they actually redesigned the whole trunk and spoiler, turned out that the 15 spoiler gives better aerodyanmics then the 14 does..

Thank you all for your opinions.
I'm thinking of going with the 14' Nismo (Red) and changing the seats to the Recaro's. Also I would change the rims, install coilovers, etc.. What do you think? |

I had a Sport/Touring originally and my '14 NISMO didn't feel like it justified the price tag relatively speaking, with the cloth interior, base radio, no Homelink mirror, etc.
When the '15 NISMO came out with the Tech package + Recaros, I knew this was the combo I wanted. The lower final drive was a welcome bonus. Also, I liked the new body kit. It's red, which I also like because the red accents blend in with the car a little. That's just me though, so buy whatever the hell you like. I never understood threads like this, we aren't the ones who are going to drive your car, why do you care what our opinions are? |
I like the body kit on the 14. Its quite a bit more aggressive than the 15 IMHO. kinda boils down to how aggressive do you want you exterior to look. The recaro's in the 15 would be nice but I don't have a problem with the seats in my 14 so that's not as big a selling point to me.

You don't have to purchase those seats from Nissan, prob can get them cheaper from Ricaro (without the Nismo embroidered) or buy another brand like Bride.. Etc Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I would choose the 14 over the 15. The 14 has everything I loved about the 09 and two tone of the 07-08 (which is what I was really after when I got the deal on the 09).
I acknowledge the "improvements" on the 15-16 as well. There is more downforce with the 15-16, but that wasn't a weakness in the NISMO. The addition of 7AT and TECH options are attractive, but I run an aftermarket audio setup and prefer 6MT. The seats are the only thing that make things interesting in my opinion, but I can live without them (just won't be as cool). Quote:

Really, it's about what you want to do to it.
There is an argument for both years. If you're looking for something that is near perfect as-is, go with the '15. If you're looking for a track bish that will be altered go with the '14. Granted, I still track my '15... but it's hard to justify $4k on new suspension when the stock stuff is pretty amazing as is. |
Are the 15 Nismo Numbered and if so Where? Thanks
|
They stopped numbering the Nismos a couple years ago...

14' Nismo vs 15' Nismo?
My 2014 is #336. They stopped numbering with the 14s when Nismo was limited edition exclusive to Z only. 15s and up no numbering because now it's another trim, available for Zs, Jukes and GT-Rs, and prob more models later on. Correct me if I'm wrong..

I think if I was going to switch over to racing buckets rather than go with the '15 recarros I'd get the Bride Stradia Venus II's that wiggins as for sale. Than again if I had the coin laying around they would already be on the way.
|
15/16 Nismo Z much more aggressive body kit but the only thing the 09-14 nismo z has are better rims.
|
14 - wheels, spoiler
15- body kit, interior, headlights |
As I reported some time ago... the 2014 version has something that catchs your eye in a stealthy way... I suppose it's the combination of the two-coloured body kit, awesome wheels and huge rear spoiler.
On the other hand, I have to confess that ´15/´16 version is gorgeous! |

by the way... a new pic from Spain....
|
if it aint serial ed i dont want it, hell with those over priced recaros
|
15' looks good and more luxurious IMO, but the 14' looks more like a racecar, which is good in some cases.
|
I believe the the 15 & 16 has a carbon drive shaft. Not sure if the 14 and belows have this. Love the shifting on my 16.
|
Pre 15's have a carbon composite driveshaft as well. For me, the pluses for the new Nismo is the 3.91 gears, the seats, and headlights. The aero changes didn't "increase" downforce, it moved it, made it more "usable". Whether thats true for just the street or track setup, idk. For me, the bodykits are a wash. I prefer the pre 15 spoiler and wheels. I also don't like that Nissan "softened the car up for the 15+.

They did softened the suspensions to make it more drivable to target more buyers (same reason first time Nismo available in AT also), but still stiffer than non-Nismo Zs
