Default Dilemma

I've wanted a Corvette all my life and consider it a realistic dream car, but IMHO, the C7 doesn't look better than my Nismo. The ZO6 is a no brainer, but I'm not willing to shell out six figures for a car at the time. I've explored a few options as far as modding and money is no issue on the StingRay, but I just don't think the Vette will visually do what the Z does and something will have to go and it's difinitely not gonna be my SRT8. I'll probably wait a few years when the ZO6's drop in value and get one of those. Anyone here get out of there Z and into a C7?

The problem I've found with vette's lately is the same as every other modern muscle car, give it 3 years and every one has one. Makes them kind of boring to me. The ZO6 and the old ZR1's of course are a horse of a different color. But I also know when you have a dream car some times you have to scratch that itch.

Food for thought when I went to get insurance on my Z the lady let me know that if my midlife crisis would have put me in a Vette versus a Z my insurance would have been 3 times as much. Turns out they are extremely high risk vehicle for insurers.

If you don't mind and have the cash? TT or LS3 V8 conversion.

That'll give you the Powah and exclusivity.

Yeah, maybe it's just a scratch I need to itch and get it out my system and I'll be the first to admit that I underestimated this car. I have an Magnum SRT8 that I am so cocky about because I can hang with most sports cars and do all the family things I need to as well without giving up anything.............. At least I thought I was until I got the Z which has an ultimate WOW factor that I never got with my SRT or M3 before it. Before I got mine, it was just a Z, but this dam thing turns heads everywhere I go, every light, every gas station ect and it has to be something special if I'm passing on getting a Vette, a car I wanted since a kid cause I don't wanna give my Z up.

I'd get a c7 if I could. But I like vettes. Actually, I like lots of cars. C7 is a sweet car. I would not sell my Z either. Just add to the stable. I guess that's why I don't have both, yet..

I've driven a lot of Vettes, and I've got to be honest the only ones that really stirred me was a 1963 split window, Z06, and ZR1. That being said I haven't driven the C7 so who knows it could fit the bill, I do really like the way it looks.

Than again I've dreamed about Lotus's and Z's my whole life not vettes, so working in a high end shop that also serviced all the big Italians it was hard for the vettes to compete.

OP should post this in corvette forum, give them an equal chance to offer some perspectives from the vette side. I can already imagine what some of them may say about our cars lol.

I've noticed a lot of guys will talk poorly about Z's because they read some thing, but had never really driven one. There are a lot of fast cars out there, but I haven't driven much that will out handle them. I have also seen a lot of converts once they have actually put some miles on one.

I also doubt a die hard Vette guy will admit any thing is better then their Vette, much like cross fit it's a cult, I mean a life style.

This thread is not entirely an objective measure of two cars' performances either. Subjective opinion may help sometimes. After all, OP dilemma is look (subjective) vs childhood dream (subjective).

Have fun JC Nismo
