Is there really a difference, I thought they were both the same cars

tech comes with navi

NISMO Tech has Navigation, XM Radio (few months trial), and backup camera (which works pretty good to help park!).

NISMO has the pocket where the screen is on NISMO Tech.

I would have taken a regular NISMO if I could have found one in white 6MT but I couldn't. More than happy with NISMO Tech even if I think it should be standard features at the NISMO price point.

I am fairly certain that the tech package also includes the Bose system as well.

Why couldn't u find a regular NISMO? Dealerships will order the sub model you want.

The back up camera was worth it to me, it makes life simpler and the Z definitely has blind spots, I'm not sure if the camera is a wide angle or not, but it's saved me a couple of times where I couldn't see a pedestrian or car in my mirrors but I could in the camera.

The non-tech Nismo still has a backup camera inside the mirror. I have a tech, and love it. The Bluetooth streaming is my favorite part.

Yes and no. It is available as an option. I don't have it.

Any reason not to want the tech? Everything except the nav is useful.

The big reason to get the tech package is that the Z's are notoriously funky with the wiring... While it's true someone could add XM/Bluetooth/backup camera/nav/better audio - there's an above-zero percent risk the car will do strange things when it's all said and done.

Just look through the A/V threads here for examples.

I specified the tech package with mine, and it's been really nice. I'd certainly do it again.

My 2016 has the Bose and back up in the mirror but no navi, I'm glad the original owner went that route personally.

The tech has leather recaro seats vs cloth. I have a tech that I'm selling. ;)

The tech and base Nismo have the same seats. I don't think they are real leather either. Not even real Alcantara.

They are leather per Nissan. And I was told by Nissan non tech doesn't have leather recaro... you sure about that? My dealer knows all about Z and GTR options.

Yep, definitely real leather and alcantara in my '16 Nismo. Why would anyone think otherwise at that price point?

Getting back on subject, why so negative regarding the onboard nav? I find it works flawlessly and I'm glad I have it as part of the Tech package.

Same here. Used it a few times now to get to some obscure client office across town and it's bang-on... Dash Lady has a nice voice too. :)

I stand corrected. My bad. I thought I saw in the brochure somewhere that it hade a footnote or fine print stating that the alcantara was imitation. There we have it, real leather and Alcantara for what Nissan charges for those seats. I was actually curious last night and looked up the price for the seats on the online parts manual. The bottom cushion is around $3,600 and the seat back is around $4,500. Freaking insane!

I was cruising around today and got the shopping bug for another sports car. Was driving by the Infiniti dealership and saw the new Q60 and had to pull in. Then I saw it. A Solid Red Nismo Tech that was for sale. Hnnnggg!!! Hot damn, it was sexy AF. I drove it around the lot just to see how it compares to my Z33.

I really liked it. Even my wife was encouraging me to do it. If it wasn't for the refi of my house and my trip to Thailand, this would have been an easy impulse buy.

I thought the non-tech nismo has BT...no? That's kind of a bummer.
I heard the bose is nothing to rave about and I personally think no in-dash unit(other than apple carplay/ android auto) is better than google maps. Not to mention the unit Nissan uses is severely outdated and it looks like a mess with all those buttons. The only useful perk for the tech package is the backup camera, but I can't justify the price for that and rather do it as a mod.
Anyways, someone please let me know if there's BT for the new non-tech nismos.

My non tech 2015 Nismo has bluetooth. I am not sure if you can use it to play audio though. It does connect the phone for calls.

Thanks for your response! That's really odd. I want/need the BT and rear cam features.

The bluetooth audio is actually really good from my Galaxy S8+. I just wish it had Android Auto integration, etc. Thinking about an aftermarket HUD or something to add what's missing.

I'm not sure there are Tech and non-Tech cars here in Canada. If so, Nissan Canada doesn't seem to know about them. ;) Only one version seems to be available here and it matches all the descriptions for the Tech version. So I guess I have a Nismo Tech. :)

Same here, I have a 2017 nismo, it has everything above, guess mine is a nismo too.

I've got all that in my NISMO except navigation.

The tech package was only offered as an option for the 15 MY and above.
