Hello Z owners,

I'm fairly new here and would like any suggestion or concern about my up coming purchase. I currently own a 2008 350z 6-speed & I'm looking forward on trading that in for a 2014 370z nismo. Anything I should be aware about besides for its stif suspension and lots of speeding tickets? if anyone have any cons or pros comment, please let me know. All opinions are much appreciated.

Thanks

Is your 2008 Touring, Base, Nismo? 370z Nismo is a hell of a car, you don't get all the comfort stuff you get from the Touring, unless you get the Nismo tech which I believe has those options. The 370z is still noisy, not sure how that would work for you in MN, I have family there and those roads are hell, and of course the snow and stuff

The csc on the clutch tends to wear out prematurely and the 370's tend to run really hot especially in the summer months(oil cooler will fix that),but other than that the car is rock solid. Come to think of it,I believe the nismo will have a factory oil cooler, but the consensus is they aren't very efficient. Might be ok if you don't plan on tracking the car.
You'll definitely enjoy the car. Nice upgrade

mine's fine, same with my 11 old G which bascially has the same csc. i am pretty easy on the clutch even while going wot.

if ur stuck in traffic try to keep the car in gear as long as possible and not use the clutch so often. i see newbs in MT cars in rush hour that keep shifting back and forth back and forth while i only shifted once or twice. no wonder u folks think MT sucks in rush hour.. personally i hate driving AT cars in congestion.

I cant answer for the TS but I can for myself. There were a few reasons I ended up deciding on a 14 Nismo. I started out looking for a base+sport. Unable to find the car I wanted in the color I wanted I opened the search to Nismos. The more Nismos I looked at the more pedestrian the other models looked visually. Also through the years Ive learned (depending on the make/model) the money spent on low hp yielding bolt ons and different aesthetics is somewhat a waste and takes away money from my true goal of making some real power. For the Z cars, most bolt ons and body mods simply fail my cost benefit analysis.

The Nismo helps in that regard as I'm satisfied with its body/wheels and wouldnt feel the need to sink thousands on mods/paint/labor that could've went towards boost or boost supporting mods/built motor etc.

Out the box I can be content with the Nismo and take all that money I would've spent to "un-plain jane" the base+sport and put it towards mods that make a TRUE difference to the car.

Do I love Amuse? Yes. Do I love all the different cool expensive rims? Yes. Do I love the thought of more quickly having the money for a built boosted vehicle more? HELL YEAH

Plus I might say screw more mods all together and spend any extra money on a Ducati or KTM RC8 lol

Thanks for all the reply though, much appreciated. I already got my eyes on a 14 white nismo for around $34 grand, not a bad price although i would love a red one..

You pretty much hit the spot for me. At first i was thinking about getting a base 370z and slap on the amuse kit but that kit is not cheap. So I rather just go for the nismo which already have a nice kit to it like you said and just boost it in the near future.

I've had a 03 350z 14 370Z and now a 10 370z Nismo. I liked the 370z the least, it had the sports package, sold it a few months later. Love the handling of the Nismo, but it will test your love if you try to make a road trip. " Stiff suspension. "Other than that I'm fine with dd. 350Z was just awesome!

I understand I guess I just looked at it as it doesn't feel like a 350 HP car and you're basically paying for an over priced body kit in which I do like. Then the lack of options pre 2015. I love my touring package+ nav. I've never been into body kits more just strictly perforformance. When I was looking at nismos they had used Z06's, M6, for the same price. But hey thank goodness for options as I'm happy you're happy with your purchase and the support of the Z.

I understand you but I didnt pay over $40k for a new Nismo hah. I love the Zs but no way do I feel, as they are now, that they are worth that much. Plus they depreciate SO MUCH after just one yr hence I was looking for a 14 Nismo. I agree its largely bodywork but you cant forget the amazing wheels and nice suspension set up that keeps the car hella planted in corners. Also I honestly didnt even bother looking at any of the older Zs without factory oil coolers so Z wise my options were a lil limited. Being that I was in the market for a new vehicle which will be my DD, I also didnt look at anything that wouldnt still have some factory warranty left, just in case.

With regard to the other models, if all cars were made equal quality wise, reliability wise, ownership cost wise, etc, I'd def picked another platform. However thats not the case and speed wasnt the #1 factor in my equation. Im not a blind Z fanboy like lots of the forum members here seem to be. I def appreciate other makes and models, some of which are blowing the current Z out the water in certain categories. The Nismo just happened to be the best combination of all factors I was including. And with its great looks and low sales numbers I really think it'll stand the test of time. I pray it doesnt become what I feel my 350z became...
