If the dealer is pleasant to deal with, honest, and straight forward then I would pay extra and view it as a tip to them. I am not a person to pay at or near sticker price either. If I can get the car for 40k before tax then I would be happy. Heck, a different dealer already quoted me 39.8k before tax.
You are buying a car that drops value immediately the minute you drive it off the lot. Do not feel sorry for them or give them a tip. This is your money And Don't be a fool and Give it away.

Everything you buy drops in value the second you leave the store with it like I mentioned but that is only an issue if you intend to sell it shortly after you purchase it. The point that I guess I was trying to make is you should also look at the simple fact of customer service and having a dealer that will go the extra mile for you. Now by no means to I feel that dealers are losing money and building these elaborate dealerships with all that glass and marble but the internet has lowered margins for every industry around the globe (except for petroleum). If a dealer offers up the back end money as well as all of the other freebies by all means take it but how one is treated by a dealership now days is very important.
