Vent Openings on Front/Rear Bumper Nismo
The vent openings I see on the Nismo model's frt/rr bumpers (the vertical slits); are they functional???
|
I do not believe they are. I looked at these yesterday. I am pretty sure the fronts are covered. The rears are open but it looks like they just go into the area between the wheel well liners and rear bumper. Could be functional for aero but not currently used for brake cooling.

Looks.

no function.

Nothing wrong with looks. Why do we put gel or brush or comb our hairs. Vents = Vanity.
|
I was told by my dealership that they are functional and that is part of the reason the spoiler is a rear lip this year instead of the ginormous spoiler on Nismos in years past. But then again, the majority of things that come out of a salesperson's mouth are made up facts and figures :p
I would not be surprised if the front is not functional though. It looks as though they took the footprint of the daytime running lights from 2014 and had to put something there, so they just cut a hole out. |
I'm seeing more and more the differences between a 50k sports car and a 100k sports car.
Nothing wrong with looks, because if it looks the part, usually it can do the part (extracting heat). I wonder if their designed to make them functional? I realize to keep cost under control we will not get everything found on a higher end sports car, but I would hope when they designed these, some thought was given to enable enthusiast to make use of these, Their placement IS where they 'could' be useful to do what they look like they can do anyway. |
fronts are not real vents, theyre vent look alike divots in the bumper with solid black plastic behind them.
rear vents look hideous but there is some sunlight coming through about 25% of them so who knows what they are. |
