On an A4? Doubtful. Since it is the 2006 version of the 2.0T it may need some work done to the cam follower which drives the high pressure fuel pump (ezpz part if so, $50 and a 1 hr DIY job) and probably some front suspension work. Make sure you get the timing belt changed ASAP if it hasn't been done already, it's a 50k maintenance item despite what the manual says. Same goes for the cam follower, it WILL grenade your engine if you don't change it.

thats true. But im pretty optimistic. The guy is a long time friend and I doubt he would rip me off. Ive seen the motor run, he has it in a firebird at the moment. Its just retarded. With tubs and a good hook its has dropped into the 9 second range. He doesnt actively race it, its a street car that he takes to the track a couple few times a year. But as we all know.... that doesnt account for highway beatings lol.

It will be quite some time before I get started on the project, but rest assured I will keep everyone updated. Im the type that is quite proud of work done myself. As soon as I get the engine I will clean it up and post some pics. The 240 is in no condition to show off right now......... so wait till I at least have it painted lol. Would you trust that the previous owner had this done at 50K miles, especially if it's not a standard maintenance item? He said the car has 90K miles on it, so .... You obviously know more about Audis than me. I just know their interior is very nice (understatement) and when they break down as they get on in miles, it's often serious and outrageously expensive. Hopefully you have provided him with some good, relevant information that will keep his Audi running well for the time being

Shoot, should have probably asked peoples advice on here ahead of time on the "best" family car to invest in. Only stipulations would be it must be 4wd and a car, wagon or POSSIBLY a crossover. Didnt want a truck, suv, or van. What would everyone recommend? Im actually still ubder the return policy time for the used car dealership if i choose i dont want the car. May be a fee... but if its to avoid a huge headache in the future i will totally do it.

AWD sedan options are limited ... not really sure what to recommend.
Subaru, Ford, Audi, and Volvo are about all I can think of off the top of my head. But most of them are newer and might have difficulty finding a cheap, used one in good condition. Impreza and Legacy are probably the cheapest. Top the line Fusion has one, and it isn't a terrible vehicle. S4 and S60 also. Seems like you might be right where you want to be.

Ive owned a BMW in my lifetimes list of cars so far. So acquainted with German cars as well. One thing I am looking fwd too though..... is 840HP and 900LBFT TQ is going to make me smile so hard I will completely forget the A4 is in the shop for the 37th time.

Me too and I couldn't wait to get rid of it. Oil leak after oil leak and the water pump went out with only 70k miles and left me stranded 650 miles from home. I hate german cars. Especially for how expensive they are. Good luck with that Audi.

does anyone know how much the 2.4L I6 in the 70 240z weighed? trying to do some math on placement for weight distribution. the LSX weighs 550 with the supercharger "7.4 not 6.0" And the car weighs 2300 lbs with the 2.4 in it.

At 90K the Audi coolant tank resivoir should be replaced too. Thats about the time they commit suicide. Coil packs too. Not sure if the 2006 2.0 has direct injection, but if it does....carbon buildup can be pretty bad on Audi engines with DI.
