2015 Nismo exhaust is made by HKS

Hey everyone
I just pick up my 2015 a few month ago and change my muffler and I found hks stamp on the muffler. I am wondering if the previous years are the same. Here is the pic. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...b1075b5d13.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15...0ddbe218fe.jpg

Nice!!! Can you take more pics?

Is it possible it's really a different exhaust?

It's in my storage I will try to take some photos. I think they are similar just was out sourced to hks. Sounds pretty quiet.

Looks exactly the same in the pics you posted. But I'm curious as to why they'd outsource to such an expensive company...

I am pretty sure HKS gives Nissan a bulk order deal. I know Nismo used to out source their exhaust to companies like fujitsubo. Maybe hks gives nissan a better deal? I thought this is pretty interesting when I removed mine and interested to know what other years looked like.

Other years looked similar without the placard, lol

So, they removed the number plate from the interior of the car and replaced it with an HKS plaque on the exhaust? That doesn't seem like a fair deal for anything other than weight :shakes head:

They are still pretty heavy compare to the Fujitsubo muffler from g37 coupe that I put on.

Yeah, look at the review for the 15 "on youtube". and then watch a review for 14 and under. the car CLEARLY sounds different. Its still not quite there yet, but thats a huge step up from the prius exhaust they used to put on it. At least it sounds like it has an engine now and not a piece of lint falling down carpet stairs.

Really? I didn't know that. The tone on the stock exhaust is pretty good just a little quiet. I have never heard the previous Nismo before since they only came in few numbers in 2011 in Canada.

That is nice. I guess they let a bunch of JDM aftermarket manufacture to produce the mufflers for them. That is pretty cool.

I'm guessing, same exact design, same approximate quality, different manufacturers -- lowest bid wins the contract for the MY.

And, my guess is, approximately same sound too.

They can't change things around too much because that will potentially affect noise levels, emissions, power ratings, etc.

Yep, lowest bidder.
