Thumbs down Can't seem to get the Dealers to fix my NISMO

Hello everyone, first let me introduce myself. My name is Austin. I am 21 years old. I recently just purchased my dream car, a 2010 magnetic black 370z NISMO. I bought the car at the beginning of December. Luckily I bought the extended warranty on the car. The car has died on me at least 3-4 times on me already. While driving the car it will begin to spit and sputter and have no throttle response. The car will slow down of course and come to a stop then die on me. After the car dies the car will refuse to crank. It will turn over, just wont crank.
I personally took the car to AutoZone and got the error code: P0171 stating that Cylinder number 1 denotes bank 1. Definition: Fuel system lean bank 1. Probable causes: Low fuel pressure, Blocked Injector(s), Large Vacuum Leak, or MAF sensor fault.

I had the car towed to my local dealer (Thornton Road Nissan) after the car died on me on the interstate with the check engine light stuck on. They called me and told me the battery was bad in my car and that it was causing all the issues I was experiencing. I laughed and told them I would find a battery myself if that was the case. I called Town Center Nissan (where I originally bought the car), and they laughed and stated the battery was not the cause at all. I went that morning and picked up my car. The head technician or whatever he was there told me that he would need to jump my car off. I waited inside as they went outside to "jump my car off." My girlfriend was sitting in the truck across from my car and saw them lift my hood, laugh and unhook my battery and hook the battery back up. They then got in my car and started it up and proceeded to rev it up as if my car was some carnival ride.

I took the car to town center nissan and they had no code to go off of. I showed the technician the receipt I got with the error code. He told me they needed to drive it until the code came back on in order to act. I gave them the permission to drive the car. They did, to no avail. I had to go pick the car up again... They detailed the car for me. But, as I was driving the car home the car started acting up again and the check engine light came on, flashed and then went off. I took the car back up there the following morning and they told me they would get to the car Monday. I just received a call from the same technician stating that "when the car turns off it clears everything...." ******** right? That they needed to drive the car further to see if they could get it to act up so that the technician could be present in the car with the diagnostic tool once it acted up. Because they believe it is a MAF sensor or an engine coil pack? Why are they so hesitant to fix my car? I am a college student and cant afford them to be driving my car so much without putting the gas back in it. Any ideas? It's my first new car and I have no idea what to do. Yep, typical Nissan way of handling any issues with their car. Good luck man. You will need a lot of it to get your problem fixed under that Nissan warranty.

If you have an Android cell phone, ~$15 will get you an OBD-II Bluetooth transmitter and you can pair that with your phone and use an app called Torque. Drive the car around and log the ECU data with Torque. It's probably every bit as good as having a worthless technician in your car with their data logger hooked up, plus you have a new toy for when your car's working correctly

There's probably an equivalent tool for iOS, but I have no experience with iPhone.

That App blew up my cousins E55 airbags during a drive on the freeway, I wouldn't recommend that stupid app, the OBD you plug in can haywire

Hey man sorry for people getting off topic. Sorry about ur Z acting up. Of coarse every car had problems so we're here to help out. I've never heard about this problem but I bet others have. Any mods done or tunes that you know of that can hurt you on your warranty? Report those techs that are ragging ur car man if it wasn't proper. I trust ull find the problem sooner than later. Sorry to hear of your troubles OP.
Be very consistent in writing down dates time issues. You may need it later w Nissan Corp. reporting.
When you do take the car in be very professional and unemotional. Again. Write down dates times people you talked to etc.
^^^^you will need these details if it gets to the point you have to convince Nissan you have an issue worthy of them fixing.
And...finally:
Research yourself, online and in this forum, and take that info with you to dealership. (Have to try to help yourself a little. )

Hate to hear the news on your Z Austin. Definitely get the MAF's cleaned and looked at. Fuel pumps are another issue but I haven't seen much about coil packs going on here. The mysterious phantom codes that disappear happened with my Z too. Fuel sensor but it cleared a day or two later and they couldn't find it. My fuel gauge was acting funny and I had the dealership check the sensors and yep you guessed it they were bad. Ordered/replaced and my fuel gauge works great now.

Thanks everyone for all your advice. I greatly appreciate it!
I called the technician yesterday after i got out of class. He informed me that the technician that drove my car home had to have the car towed back to the dealership because it died on him on 75. He said that there was no check engine light though. Which I thought was odd. The car almost always pops a check engine light before it dies. He told me that they would be pushing the car into the shop today to get it right and that if he couldn't figure out what was wrong with the car he would be getting an engineer involved.

It's funny that you mention that your fuel gauge was acting up Tadpole. I have noticed mine acting up. Nothing really major. I've just noticed that once my car gets to roughly a quarter of a tank sometimes the fuel light will come on and say that I'm about to run out of gas. The LEDs will then light back up after a little bit showing that I am back to a quarter of a tank. That's just something that has happened a few times to me.

I had issues with a previous (2011)Nismo I had. Brand new and with less than 500 miles engine lights were coming on for no reason. My case with dealing with service department, all the mechanics and so on gave the opportunity to know them all. Several months later the engineer was involved and after the replacement of coils, o2 sensors, cat converters and some other small things then finally the ECU was replaced and problem was solved. My issues were just engine lights, no stalling or engine dying on the road, So I figure your case is more serious than mine was.
My advise, as stated by others is:
1. Contact corporate (make a file case) therefore they are aware of the issue and if something does not happen within a time frame, corporate will contact the dealer and inquire about it. (they did it for me) and they will contact you once in a while for updates.
2. Log dates, names, what they said, possible causes and remedies (according to them) and always get a print out of anything they do to your car I.E. diagnostics, replacement of parts, road test, fuel test and so on.
3.Most important, have patience and if the engineer is getting involved, he/she do not work solely for that particular dealer. They are assigned a region and they visit dealers as they are needed. In my case the dealer would let me know when engineer was visiting so I could have my vehicle available to him with minimal waiting periods.

I just got a call from the technician. He informed me that the fuel pump was just replaced on my car. He also stated that they need to put 10-15 miles on the car to make sure that's the problem. He said that they wouldn't be driving it today of course because we're supposed to be getting some snow here in Georgia. So, hopefully I'll have my baby back in my arms in the next couple of days!

Get the paperwork from the dealer stating the replacement of fuel pump and save it. If that don't solve the issue they will keep on replacing parts until the problem is resolved.
