K&N Dropins
Hey fellow Zthusiast, I've owned my roadster for about six weeks now. I'm looking forward to making a few mods my first being drop ins, with the K&N air filters will there be any increase in HP but most importantly will i see any improvemnt in MPG evn if its only 2-3 miles? Just wondering.

I didn't see any improvement with the 2 K&N drop-ins. But it's nice to know that I don't have to buy new filters.

There's a lot of debate on here about different intakes. I have K&N in mine and keep saying that I'm going to add the HPS Post-MAF tube, but just haven't yet. Our gas mileage is already crap, but it might help the engine tone a little bit and save you from having to tell the dealer no every time you take it in for an oil change.

Doesn't hurt to put them in...

The only issue I would be concerned with is the potential for MAF air sensor damage due to excessive oil and the dealer denying warranty coverage for them, and the idea of cleaning an old air filter and reusing it, is what was done 50 yrs. ago.
K&N Consumer Protection Pledge Oiled air filters and maf problems survey - Maxima Forums They came up with disposable, cheap replacement air and oil filters for a reason, you can never really clean the old filter a 100% each time you clean it and some old dirt can get transferred to the inside of the air filter and into the engine. Also stock paper air filters provide superior filtration, compared to a reuseable oil type air filter. |

Search on google: "the370z k&n Dropins"
I felt a difference when I added my K&N's plus MAF tubes. I also like the sound it makes.

I went with the aFe Pro 5 R and the Z1 post MAF silicone tubes. The filters and tubes are top notch.
Very happy with the improved throttle response. Don't really track MPG but it should probably improve a bit. |
