bye 350z, hello 370z!

Hi all, from TN. Just traded my 2005 350zr AT for silver 2010 370zr 6MT touring with sport pkg. All I can say is WOW, this is the car my old 350zr wanted to be! There are so many improvements compared to that 1st gen. Interior refinements, power, drive quality, improved top & decreased wind noise...I'm even more impressed than the first day I drove the 350zr when it was new. No wonder I couldn't resist trading in. Great forum here, btw....I've already replaced the antenna with a shorty as noted in another forum section, looks so much better. Window tints are next. Anyway, just a friendly hello & thanks for all the info & how-to's offered on this site! :worship:

Actually, the dealership where I traded in wanted me to leave the aftermarket wheels on it rather than put stocks back on (which surprised me for some reason). I like the lighter 19" Rays better (for now).

As for 6MT, yep...I got to missing the manual tranny after driving the AT for a while. I got lured into the AT when I got the 350z, thinking the manual mode was "close enough" with the added convenience when I wanted hands free. It just wasn't the same.. :driving:

too bad! i liked those wheels, but i'm a sucker for mesh wheels. how do you like the synchro rev match?

DocJ 10-13-2010 11:10 PM

SRM is a neat feature....definitely makes downshifting smoother. Seems like on lower/easy cruising upshifts it gives a little lurch with keeping the rpms up though.

I liked the mesh look too, esp changing from those old stock wheels...but those 350z stock pads dusted WAY too much making mesh a pain to clean! LOL

Congrats dude!!

ah yea break dust FTL. If you have your car detailed, have them apply a wax or sealant to the wheels. it will make it much easier to clean the brake dust off. or you can do it yourself. not too hard to do on the 5 spoke rays. Although, appying sealant to a set of mesh wheels could make you want to shoot yourself!

You have to get used to SRM on the upshift. i find that if i shift as if it wasn't there, and apply a little bit of throttle at the engagement point of the clutch, its much smoother. theres a tendency with it to think 'ok at the right rpm, dump the clutch.... LERCH!' b/c the second you let out the clutch the car is suddenly in gear, but getting no gas and starts to engine brake.

That is a sweet looking roadster! It makes the 350 look almost ugly (which, of course, it's not).

Congrats on the purchase!

NICE upgrade...so much more sexier and sleeker....just wait till you break her in too...the engine really starts coming alive after about 1Kmiles....
