Goodbye 40th :( Hello Nismo :)
Hey guys,
I had bought my 40th last year used with only 14K miles on her. She started giving me problems around 19k miles. The check engine light turned on and since then the Nissan dealerships has replaced so many damn thing on her and never really fixed the problem. I asked corporate Nissan to buy my car back and they agreed. The car was still under factory warranty so even though I bought the car used they were able to apply the lemon law. Well, they paid off my loan, gave me $7K and a VPP code good for $1500 below invoice on my 2013 Nismo. I got the backup camera, Bose system, illuminated kick plates, trunk mat and Nismo mats. The MSRP was $46K, the invoice was around $43k...but after the VPP code and some haggling i got her for $40,750. I will miss my 40th but I'm very happy with my Nismo. Looking forward to reading the Nismo section of this forum now. Oh, and I had them take off those darn spacers before I even test drove it. Here are a couple of pics. |

Well, when my first check engine light turned one it was due to to a ignition coil misfire and they replaced all 6. Then the light turned again and they replaced some valve. The light turned again after 300 miles or so and they opened up the engine and said the short block needs replacing. So they did...got my car back and the light turns again. At this point Corporate Nissan sends a "specialist" to look at it. He suggests to replace all the fuel injectors and connect it to a CPU and drive my car around for 300 miles. They did, got my car back and about a week later the light turns on again. At this point my car had been at the dealer for a combined 60 days or so. I asked them to buy it back so Corporate Nissan put in a review and a arbitration specialist looked over the situation and approved the buy back. A couple of weeks later I surrendered my car at a local dealership and they had a 3rd party inspector to look at it. Everything checked out and they handed me a check for $7k which includes down payment, finance charges and something else. They have a formula on how much to give you. My loan gets paid off first though. So yeah, that's the story and how they bought it back lol

Glad to Nissan stands behind their product. Especially the Z. Also congrats on the Nismo upgrade. I know when I upgraded I wasn't disappointed and I doubt you will be either.

You should have had the dealership take another $500 off since they drilled into the bumper for the plate, lol. Congrats!

Lol! I know dude, I was kinda bummed but it was the only PW with a backup camera locally. The spoiler does take some visibility and the car has enough blind spots. I was ready to buy a Stillen bracket when I was looking for a Nismo but now that I look at it, it doesn't look that bad.
