Getting a 2010 NISMO, picking it up off the rig tomorrow morning!!
 

I found my wife a 2010 NISMO in pearl white with 2500 miles on it. It's being delivered to us in TX tomorrow morning from out of state. Pretty excited!

Have any of you other NISMO owners got any first advice on the car, forewarnings, or any other tidbits of wisdom??

Hope to learn a lot here and look forward to meeting any fellow owners. Anyone from San Antonio?!

Good chance that there will be spacers on the springs when you get the car. That is probably why the last person sold it because the car rides like it has no suspension with those on. Also check tire pressure to make sure it is 35 and congratulations on the car. Your wife is lucky.

Thanks for the heads up!!! We've driven one exactly like it here locally but that kid decided not to sell once he came to the realization that someone might actually buy it. So we had to go looking for one. Found it at an out of state dealer and it ended up being a good deal for a year newer with less mileage.

Luckily she likes the handling being stiffer. Her current car -- an 06 Civic EX we had to put stiffer springs on to make it ride more to her liking.

Is it really THAT bad with the spacers on??

Ask the dealer to do an oil change while your there with stock oil filter. You dont have any ideal with is in it.

one thing about the nismo is that she has got to be extra careful when parking or getting in out of the driveways otherwise, the front end could easily get damaged.

Good to know, thanks. Parking I would think should be intuitive, getting out of driveways? Is that because the car sits lower than most? I don't remember how low the last one was...

because the nismo front spoiler is very low to the ground (see pic below) if you drive it over the edge of most curbs or hit the concrete parking stopper, it will get damaged. secondly, the front end of the car is kinda long, it's difficult to judge precisely when you should stop. usually i would get out of the car and check to see how far i should move up if at all because i don't want to break or damage the front spoiler. as for getting in and out of the driveways, my salesman told me always get in and out of the driveways by driving the car sideway. if you don't, you probably will scrape the front spoiler.

these are the things that i would pay special attention to when driving the nismo :)

Also, what is all that racket coming from the rear deck?! I checked under it and the tools looked to be in their spots except the space just to the right of the donut.

Dude you're right. I don't think I'd be able to handle riding in the car as-is for long periods. That thing is a kidney killer.

So does taking the spacers out help? At the expense of handling?

spacers are placed on the front springs to avoid shock compression and to raise the nose for shipping purposes. They are supposed to be removed by the dealer when the car is unloaded from the truck. If you still have them, taking them off will improve handling..

Apart from the spacer thing:

In the summer months, driving in traffic, you may notice the oil temp start to climb into the 220-230 range. This is normal for this engine. I run Royal Purple oil in the motor which helps a bit. An after-market oil cooler is available for the NISMOs if you want to go the $1000 route.

Your Yokohama Advan Z tires may last 1 to 1 1/2 years (10-15k miles). They are quite expensive to replace, especially if you're not used to buying racing tires. When I replaced mine I went with BF Goodrich KDWs, which are cheaper and overall better in my opinion.

Those are the only negatives I have come up with since buying mine in January 2010. It's a wonderful car that turns heads wherever it goes. Congrats on your buy.

Oil coolers can be bought (or built) anywhere from $250-$500. No need to get the Nissan Motorsports oil cooler.
