Soon-to-be NISMO owner

Hi there.

First post on forum. Be gentle.

I am taking delivery of my 2011 NISMO Z (silver) in late November. My questions at this point are,

1. Is there anything in particular I should look for on the car (other than the obvious... scratches, etc.)?
2. Are there specific questions or information I should ask of the dealer?
3. Is there a specified "break-in" period for the engine?

Very excited to take delivery. Hope to eventually make TT thru Z1 Motorsports in GA.

Welcome, congrats on the Nismo.

Hey John,

Welcome and congratulations :tiphat:

Re: Engine breakin
I'm sure somebody will correct me, but it's like 900, 1200, or 1400 miles.
You're supposed to keep the rpm's under 4k.
Yeah right :roflpuke2:

I think I did that for the first 900 miles, but I don't push the redlines like the rest of these guys do.

Re: other things to look for
If memory serves, I think that some dealers have forgotton to remove shipping spacers from the springs on the nismos (so they have extra ground clearance).
Anybody else remember exactly what it is?

I redline the hell out of it. Oh and congrats! I never seen another Nismo on the streets, except myself, so be excited!!

Congrats.

As WDRead said, make sure you check the front springs before leaving the lot. The Nismo comes with 6 shipping spacers in the front springs. A lot of people have found two to four still in. If you don't see anything reach around the back of the spring and feel around. Thats where the last one is usually hiding. They'll have to put it on a lift or jack the car up to get them out. If they're left in the ride will be very very rough.

Yeah, check for shipping spacers in the suspension

And check your tire pressure, usually way to high.

Welcome and congratulation on the Nismo!

You should also check the tire pressure. The tire pressure on my Nismo was maxxed out on all 4 tires (I think Nissan does this for shipping). Let the air pressure down to 36 lbs made a big difference in the ride.

Do not let them put a dumb dealer sticker on the back. If they do have them remove it themselfs before leaving the lot. The acid will go rigth into the paint. Again have them remove it and look very close if you see anything have them fix it. You could still read the one they put on my car after they took it off and they had to send it to a shop to work on it. Yes I was there making sure I was done right. I have found out that GTR/370 nismo And 40th Ann Z cars are not to have any thing put onto the car at all. Saw the letter it in black and white. But what we not know they get away with. We have to work togetter in the Z family.
