An Austinite finds love in a Nismo
For just over 5 years, I suffered through a 4wd chevy trailblazer... I tore that suv up... dirty, noisy, nearly 50k miles.... And the dealer still gave me more than I wanted in trade. My last Nissan was a 1984 Datsun Hatchback that I called Fred... We used to shoot fireworks out the back of it, hahaha... ahh high school.
I picked up my shiny new 2010 370Z Nismo, Black #255 this past saturday from the nissan dealership in north Austin, TX. They treated me well, though it would have been nice to have gotten a free soda, seeing as how I was spending 40+ k... but I digress. http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/x...smo/FRight.jpg http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/x...ismo/BLeft.jpg I haven't driven a manual in years. Simply put, this thing hauls ***. I have to stay about 2 car lengths behind other cars at a stop light or in traffic, because even in first gear this car MOVES. http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/x...ngineClose.jpg http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/x...ismo/Front.jpg I'm a fairly safe driver, i had to be, suvs aren't meant to be raced. But now, i feel it slipping away. Taking a hard corner at 25+ and it's almost like the Nismo smiles. Feeling the power, the desire to see if I can hit 120, knowing i still have to break her in. http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/x...ismo/Right.jpg http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/x...Nismo/Back.jpg It's almost like the vehicle is cursed with Speed. I try to slow it down and it's almost pissed off at me. I get it to 55mph and it feels like i'm doing 20. 30mph feels like i'm jogging. http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/x...smo/BRight.jpg http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/x.../IntDriver.jpg I've only checked the front two shocks, but I didn't find any spacers. I only smelled the tranny twice, both times i drove it saturday night. since then, only new car smell. http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/x...ismo/Plate.jpg http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/x...ntExploded.jpg I'm enjoying the hell outa this thing. I forgot how good it was to drive a real sports car! Hell, a Race Car! http://i757.photobucket.com/albums/x...ismo/FLeft.jpg Is this love? Should I bust out into an 80's Ballad? Does the Pope **** in the woods? Yeah, I read about how you can buy a stock 370Z and spend like 4k or 7k or whatever and get a "Better Vehicle"... But i'm not a Car Guy, I'm an EE. I can say the same thing about your Dell or HP Computer. Why didn't you build one from scratch, then overclock it, and setup a dual boot Wind0z & Linux config with the ability to boot each os in a VM in the other Host os using HyperV & Xen? It's all relative  The 2010 Nissan 370Z Nismo is a damn fine piece of machinery. The engineers who designed my sexy ride earned their paycheck on this one. I'm even considering taking her out to a race track in a few mos... We'll see. The tranny is noisy. At first, I thought I had bought a lemon... But a quick visit to the svc dpt and a chat with a tech (and quick ride) calmed all that down. He laughed and said, "You're going to feel the road and hear the car. It's a Race Car, not a Luxury Sedan. Enjoy!" Enjoying, I am. *I apologize for the low res pics, it's a cell phone camera... All the white splotches are reflected clouds. |
Congrats! Your Nismo looks great!:driving:

Congratz on the Nismo. Even though it's a Nismo, doesn't mean you can't upgrade it still! Enjoy, and welcome! |
Nice! You pick it up at Town North? I bought mine at Southpoint and got offered a soda...

BTW, I think you can hit 120 in 6th easily without going over 5000 rpm :stirthepot: |
congrats and welcome aboard! nice pics:tup:

First off, grats on the purchase, I know you'll love her
You said that you got #255, but the badge shows #40. I am corn fused. I'm also glad to see they weren't retarded with your floor mats and got you the right ones. I ended up driving home with 350Z Nismo mats :shakes head:, but the dealer did get me the right ones down the line. i find it sad that the first thing i thought when i saw the thread title was iron ore and heat treatments...ugh i've been through too much engineering.
lol: Austenite - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia anyway welcome, glad to see it's not a thread about heat treating XD |
congrats man!

Welcome to the NISMO club...Looks great.

What a warm welcome, thanks much, everyone!
Zaggeron, Hah! I think my salesman was a newbie, but it's all good. 370Zsteve & Matt, ya'll are tempting me. must be patient! Time to study some maps of west texas, at least... vipor, that's been one of my questions and was hoping someone would chime in, thank you! A few other salesmen stopped by after we were done w/ the paperwork and started calling me 255, and the last 3 of the vin is 255... Yet the badge says 40. So does the # go by the badge? Or is something fishy going on? Thanks also, for the links :icon18:, I was wondering where to find some of this info! blacknismoZ, great minds think alike. but man does it show dirt... but it looks soo purdy. I'm glad I didn't go Red, which was my original thought. phelan, well, in theory this Austinite will subject this Nismo to much Austenite this summer :inoutroflpuke:. Thankfully, i park in a garage @ work. It's good to see we got overclockers here too... Maybe my 2016 400Z will be stock and I'll custom upgrade it... Hopefully, by then, i'll know how to drive the one I already have! |
Very nice man!
