Another new owner here!
Hello!
I recently purchased a 2016 370z Nismo Tech (had about 14,500 miles on it). I've been driving a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 roadster, which I think I'm finally ready to resell, to help pay for the Z. Looking forward to learning more about this car and maybe attending some gatherings too. (I live in Frederick County, Maryland. Not sure how much is going on out here?) I've always been into sports cars and owned a number of them over the years, but never a Z until now. Always wanted one, ever since one of my friends bought one back when we were in college. (I remember us thinking how high tech it was that the car talked, saying things like "Your door is ajar." and "Fuel is low." Heh.) |
welcome to the club, enjoy the car and driving it

Welcome :hello:, have fun with the new Z. I've always liked the looks of the Crossfires.

Welcome

Good choice.
What color did you get? |
re: Crossfire, etc.
Thanks.... Yeah, I drove the Crossfire in to work today, and I'm having kind of a tough time parting with it now. Wish I could afford to keep it AND the new Z, but that's really unrealistic.... Already have a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon I'm still paying on.
We do have two pre-teens coming up on driving age, but if we get them anything, it's going to be a cheap, basic car that gets good gas mileage ... not something high performance. The Nismo really feels "tighter" all around and the brakes feel much firmer and more responsive than the Crossfire ... but with the custom Eurocharged tune, the Crossfire and the Nismo Z put out about the same HP. At the end of the day, the Z feels like the superior performer, but that Crossfire holds its own for being 12 years old, and having used older generation tech from Mercedes even when it was new! re: color
I went with pearl white. I had the option to get a black one ($1,000 more expensive and about 7,000 less miles on the odometer). Just couldn't see why I'd want to spend the extra $1K over 7,000 lousy miles though -- and thought pearl white shows off the curves on the vehicle more, while black sort of makes all of it "understated".

Gotta love the Pearl White! That's iconic Z color. Congrats!

Congrats on the new car. Shiro White is the name of white 370z in Australia. |
Welcome, post up some pictures of the new ride!!!

I actually still need to take some good photos of it. The weather around here was all rainy and lousy until just the other day. This week will be much better for that.
I do have one pic of the side of it, in the garage, though, with a custom vinyl decal I had made up for it. Quote:

Looks good man! I've got the 'ol Jeep Rubicon/370z Nismo combo too (2003/2011). You're set for all driving conditions :driving:

Congrats and welcome

Looks good, congratulations!

Welcome, nice upgrade to the crossfire. You'll find the Z to be much more reliable and reasonable priced for maintenance. Guy at work has a Crossfire that's been a major money pit. Only real problem with my Z has been the rear diff bushing but that helped me pull the trigger on my LSD.

Welcome to the best forum on the ole' interwebs. If you want to get really immersed in the culture, there is an event coming up that would not be too far of a drive for you. If you want to see every iteration of Z's, this is the place to be...

re: ZDayz
That sounds great, but my wife has her graduation ceremony on the same day ZDayz starts this year. :(
I've seen it mentioned a lot online though, so probably will put it on my calendar as a to-do plan for next year! Quote:

Oh man a SRT6....that is a sweet car bro. Seriously....
Very rare too....how many miles you got on the SRT6? You are going to love the Z ....welcome! |
re: SRT and Z stuff
The SRT6 has around 70,000 miles on it right now. Had a couple come up here to take a look at it, thinking about buying it from me. But they decided against it, mainly because they're on a hunt for cars in pretty much factory new condition. Mine's in pretty good shape for its age, but you can obviously tell it's been used.
That's the one bad thing I've discovered with these Crossfires, now that I'm trying to resell mine. A lot of the potential buyers want "garage queens", and they can find them too -- because so many people bought the Crossfires new as potential collectables, never driving them except in parades or to and from car shows. Daily drivers like mine are still in that zone where they're not quite an old enough car to be respected as a "classic", even though they're rare (only 1,500 or so ever made of the SRT6 roadsters like mine). So buyers still want the showroom new ones before they'll consider the rest. I could sell mine easily if I got a new, quality paint job done on it and got the curb rash fixed on the wheels. But that's a lot of money to put out up front, so would probably still be a wash. ANYWAY .... I'm enjoying the new Z. Every time I drive to work, I get thumbs-ups from at least one or two motorcycle riders and nods of approval from other random drivers. It's easily the most attention-getting car I've ever driven. (And while that's cool, it also feels a little weird because I'm not really an attention-seeker!) Quote:
