Hi all
Last week I picked up my first ever Z car. Just thought I'd say hello to the whole community!
I used to have a WRX which was modded and putting down about 330whp/330wtq, and then it developed clutch squeak and all kinds of stupid crap. I'm hoping the Z will treat me as nicely as I treat her! Any tips for someone new to the Z stuff? |

Welcome to the forum!
You're going to want to look into cooling mods such as an oil cooler right off that bat. Anything more is completely up to you but that's generally the recommended first major mod.

Question on that though, will a better oil help the situation? or possibly and oil that has better heat resistant properties, like Rotella T6? I have a lifetime powertrain warranty, and since the car is new, i really want to make sure i keep the warranty as long as possible Thank you for the welcomes! |

Welcome and congrats. In '12 Nissan added a coolant line from the radiator to help cool the oil and in '13 they added a pressurized radiator overflow tank to increasing the capacity of the cooling system. Break yours in according to the manual and then see where your oil temps are. I have a '13 and my normal oil temp is 200 on an 80 degree PNW summer day. My temps run 220 with spirited driving. If I lived in a hotter climate or tracked the car then I would probably have a cooler. Agree on the oil. Change to a good quality synthetic with better heat properties.

side note - i heard the '13 and '14 got carbon synchros as well, which are apparently substantially better
