Howdy - New member - what to get?

Hello all,

New member from Nebraska here. I've always loved Zs. My very first car was a 1974 260 Z - loved that thing. It was totaled after about 4 years of owning it and I had to get another so I ended up with a 280ZX. Drove it into the ground. That was my last Z and now I'm looking to get back into one. I've been looking at both 350 and 370z's but the 370Z NISMO is what really caught my eye though I have some more research to do.

For the past 10 years I've been a Porsche guy. 1987 944 Turbo(951), 1980 911 Targa and my baby - 2002 911 Carrera. Do to limited space I'll probably be trading or selling the Turbo.

Anyway, looking forward to a Z in the near future, just not sure which direction I should go. I'm not a big tinkerer. Mostly small cosmetic stuff. If I need anything major I leave it to the pros. I'm also not a racer or track guy so trying to squeeze every ounce of power out is not something I'd probably be looking to do.

So I'll be reading threads like crazy over the next few weeks. The only question I would have at this point would be; is the jump from a base model to a NISMO worth the $? Or would I be better off with a base model and picking and choosing which mods to do?
BTW - I'm most likely looking at a 09-12 rather than brands new. But then again, maybe should get my feet wet with a 350z first?
