Newb from R34 to Z34

Hi newbie here have been lurking for a few weeks waiting for my 370z to be ready

I have just bought a 2012 GT Edition 7AT in pearl white and already have a shopping list of a few parts to buy

In the last few years I've had a couple of Skylines a R33 and R34 (Both the 2wd variants) and an Evolution 6 so thought I'd try a NA car for a while

In November I sold my R34 and bought an 07 350z HR GT but couldnt get on with it , I really hated the noisy DMF and transmission and struggled to get a handle on the clutch bite but apart from that really loved the car so decided to up the budget to the 370z with the auto rather than spending the money on the 350. My daily drive is a DSG auto and my R34 was a tiptronic as well so perhaps I've been converted

That R34

DEpointfive0 01-01-2014 12:25 PM

You're going to recieve a lot of flac. If I had an R34, even not a GTR, I'd never sell it, lol but welcome

critical 01-01-2014 12:29 PM

welcome. wish we could get nice cars here :(

Maddog 01-01-2014 12:36 PM

Yeah got plenty of flak before:)

Truth is (flak jacket on) standard Skylines are a little overrated, someone else mentioned on another thread even the GTR isnt that fast when compared to the Scoobies or Evo's of the time.

They are much better made though and they are very pretty but they are OLD, mine was a '98 model and last year Nissan started to delete a lot of parts from their catalogue meaning keeping these cars on the road is going to get harder and harder

Congrats on the new purchase!

I understand. I only saw one HIDEOUS purple R34 in England, still made me a bit happy.
And yeah the interiors aren't really nice either. It's a really simple, REALLY basic car (WAYYYYYYYYY more basic than the Supra) but if I had a R34 in blue :leghump:

DEpointfive0 01-01-2014 12:50 PM

Oh, and it makes me so happy you call it flac jacket. Like the other day this random European said gaffer tape and spanner, made me really happy

Think the GT edition is UK only , it's on Wikipedia and a review on YouTube .

As for mods , r35 shifter knob, r35 start button, drop in filters, intakes and a cbe. Think some replacement sway bars might be worthwhile as well

Like my previous stuff it's a weekend/hobby car , detailing and modifying is part of the fun for me but I don't want massive power gains just to replace some of the stock parts with improved ones

Pretty jealous of the GT vinyl to be honest. Welcome to the forum!

Maddog 12-07-2015 05:34 AM

Thought I'd update this thread as good as any . Found some pictures of my R34 on the web , the new owner is from Eastern Europe and converted it to left hand drive and modified it for drifting

He has since crashed it :(

When I had it

:wtf: damn the R34 looks soo good when you have it :( anyway man! congrats on the Z34 and welcome to the family :)

edk370 12-07-2015 11:51 AM

OMG, that's going backwards....Skyline GTR > 370 anyday. I'd rather have the R32 or R34 over the GT-R. That car's a classic.

Big Congrats. :icon18:

indyn 12-07-2015 04:36 PM

Thats a GTT right not GT R?

Maddog 12-08-2015 02:19 AM

Yes GTT the rear wheel drive version . More common and much cheaper than the Gtr but prices have gone up significantly since Paul Walker died. You can buy a good one of these for the same as an HR 350z

indyn 12-08-2015 09:46 AM

They're cheaper here in Canada but not the GT R.
How much do the GT R's go for ?
and
Do you get left handed GT R's in UK?

Maddog 12-09-2015 01:54 AM

No we get right hand drive cars as we drive on the left like Japan and Australia, i dont know why the current owner of the GTT went to the effort of a conversion.

I bought this GTT for zbout $7500usd , but it needed work and prices have risen so you'd need to pay $12000-$15000usd for one now , a good R34 gtr is $45000-$50000 now
