New around here

Hey guys, my name is Josh and this is my first thread on this site. I do not have a 370z or any Z for that matter, but I plan on remedying that in a few weeks. I plan on picking up either a 2013 or 2014 370z in either midnight blue if I can find one or white. Anyways, it is not set in stone that I will be getting a Z though. If the trend keeps going in the same direction that it has been then I will probably have changed my mind again in the next few weeks. However, the 370z is the car I have been most excited about since I started car shopping a couple months ago so I think it is safe to say that I am sold on the car.

Anyways, a little bit about me. I am 21 years old and a junior in college. I am studying finance and marketing, but I am primarily interested in real estate. In addition I do a lot with various aspects of internet marketing and I work at a fast-food place to force me away from the computer screen or otherwise I would constantly be working in my room alone for 16 hours a day. Some of my interests include cars, fish (aquariums), and HBO shows, so I hope you guys like Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire because I'll probably talk about them sometimes. I am also just starting to get into PC gaming, so I am sure that will take some of my time now too. I am from the Dallas area so if any of you guys know of any good DFW car clubs or anything, let me know and I will be sure to check them out. Even if I end up going with a Mustang or M3 I would still be interested in trying some of them out. Well my rambling intro is over, so to sum it up I look forward to spending some time here and hopefully I end up getting a 370z very soon. I'll be sure to start a new thread in the appropriate section about some questions I have on buying the Z just to confirm that it is the right car for me.

Welcome! Drive all 3 and see what you like best. I found I like the balance of the z overall (I am assuming you mean 6cyl m3 and not v8 ). V8 m3 is a great car but much more expensive.

I meant the 2013 M3, great car yeah, but I live in student housing and I would just be worried about parking a car like that outside. And honestly the Mustang drives a little better to me and it has more space, but I prefer the looks of the 370z and also the fact that it is a little rarer. I see Mustangs just about everywhere it seems. How do you feel about all the blind spots on the 370z?

I'd be worried about leaving a 370Z outside of student housing too. 1. Get wheel locks. 2. If your dealer offers 'ding and dent' protection buy it.

You can work with the blind spot by setting the mirrors wide and making sure to be more aware of your surroundings.

Honestly, if you need space the Mustang wins. If you just drive in town, the Mustang wins. If you want a sports car daily driver there is none better than the Z.

My 2 cents.

And welcome!

Eh someone hit me in the lot. Sigh. But I got it self repaired and if looks like nothing happened. Now I park in the corner of the lot where no cars ever park

If I were in your shoes, OP, I would wait another year until I graduated. School parking lots destroy nice cars. All of the cars you're talking about will still be available. You'll have even more money saved up too, so you can look at even better vehicles.

I plan on parking whatever I get in the corner away from others. Drivers at my school are terrible, so I probably will get a few dings. More than likely I will turn this into a dedicated track car in the next year or so though, so some some small dings won't be a huge issue. I noticed that you have a midnight blue 370z. How do you like it in comparison to the pearl white? In pictures I think it looks great, but the closest one to me is 490 miles away so I cannot see one in person. Do the pictures do it justice?

Everyone tells me that, but I can afford it now and I want something fun to drive. Plus next summer I will possibly get a GT-R or something. Also I'm going to grad school right after this so I really won't be graduating for 2 1/2 more years. No way I can wait that long lol. Thanks for the greetings guys! So welcoming lol.

welcome homie!!1

Chuck33079 09-07-2013 01:15 AM

Why in the world would you buy a Z now if you're planning on buying a GTR next summer? That seems like a waste of money.

dtul 09-07-2013 04:42 AM

I may buy a GT-R next summer or something else like the Audi RS7 (if it is out yet). My living situation will most likely be changing next summer and I will be more comfortable having a nicer car at that time. And it wouldn't be a waste of money since I would probably still keep the Z. Also this is dependent on my financial situation continuing in the same direction it has been. It doesn't seem to be making any changes and only seems to be picking up more and more, but you just never know. Things can go wrong and stuff does not always go as planned, so maybe I will still just have the Z next year and if that is the case I am fine with that as well.

Also are there any good driving roads around Houston? I have family in the Woodlands and it'd be nice to know if there are some nice back roads near Spring or Conroe or somewhere.

Chuck33079 09-07-2013 08:58 AM

I hope that you mean you'e buying a house when you say your living situation may be changing. It seems like you've got a lot of spending planned. I hope a house and a investment portfolio are planned in there as well. Buy some things that go up in value, not just depreciating expenses like cars.

You're young, and it seems like you're making a lot of money. That's awesome.

But you just mentioned dropping $150k+ on cars in the next year or two. If that's a drop in the bucket, that's great. Just don't go overboard. There's no guarantees that kind of income will last forever. You seem to realize that, and it's good to have a plan B if everything goes to hell.

There's some decent driving up I45 between the Woodlands and Conroe. There's a few back roads between I45 and 290 that are pretty entertaining. I don't remember the road offhand, but it's an area worth exploring.

It really doesnt do it justice You have to see the midnight blue face to face.
My initial buy was going to be pearl white and i was dead set on it until i saw the midnight blue on the lot. it kinda just...put a smile on my face. And now when i see pearl white z's i dont get that omg i want one feel anymore. You wont be disappointed. :tiphat::hello::happydance::driving::eekdance:
