KY Z Owner
Hey all, I joined a little while ago but I'm just now taking some time to post in here. I'm a Nissan Master Tech in South Central Ky. Been with Nissan just a a little over a year now. The dealer got my car at an auction in Missouri. It's an 11 Base 6MT in Monterey Blue. Had 8300miles on the dial and I got it certified as well. I got the car for a steal, nearly 6k less than retail. They sat on the car for 190days and had to move it. I made a reasonable offer and they took it. I've loved every minute I've owned it. I purchased a second hand stock Nismo exhaust, I wanted the H-pipe. Installed an AFE Takeda Stage 2 Attack CAI as well. I have a few complaints like anyone else. First and foremost, why produce a sports car with an open diff. Then offer an LSD that is just not up to the expectations or performance the rest of the car. I would have like to have seen a 1.5 clutch lsd, similar to a Nismo GT or a Giken. We have them, we've used them in older cars. It just seemed like too many accountants had their hands in the design process. If I can help anyone out by all means let me know.

Welcome sir! and congrats on your Z!! do you have any pics to share? I like the idea of going with the second hand Nismo exhaust, cheapest way to power gain and upgrading the look of the rear. I planned on doing the same.
I'm looking to getting into my first Z soon, since you're a Nissan Master Tech, do you have any advise what I should be pay close attention to when I'm inspecting a used Z? Any tips from you would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! |

Mechanically they are quite sound. Now, that being said you need to look out for body damage. People under estimate the car get it squirrely and wreck it. Check the bolts that hold the door hinges, bonnet and boot hinges as well. if the paint is chipped around these I'd ask about accident history. Most people stick to the 3750 oil changes. I've always thought this was excessive. When getting oil changes "if you use the dealer" ask them to use a 9E filter, it's about a 1/4qt bigger for the same price and run 5k intervals or even 7500 if you just DD the car. If you have any questions let me know. |
