To buy or not to buy a 370z ? =/

Hello im new to this forum my name is George..
I am 17 years old and the next year im going to university and my father will buy me a car..Me and my father lovee the 370z he said if i want it he will buy it for me.
The issue now is that im hearing that the fuel economy is not great you need 15-20euro gas for every 100km. My friend had the 350z but he sold it because of the fuel consumption.

Tell me your personal opinions of the gas consumption

sorry for long post
Thanks :)

Sorry, but, most of us here did not buy a Z to worry about gas consumption. Honestly, at 17, you should get a more economical car. Z will not only be more expensive to maintain/run but your insurance will be very high also.

danegrey 04-07-2013 12:09 PM

I do not worry about gas for the Z, I just go out and play....
if you are worried about that, find another find little car GTI, Miata, better on mileage and not bad to drive

patriotaki 04-07-2013 12:15 PM

yes but i cant find any cars that i like.. the fairlady Z is unique! and my father has no problem to buy me a 370z i just want to know the gas consumption

122554 04-07-2013 12:19 PM

A lot!

homeryansta 04-07-2013 12:21 PM

What is with all the threads started by the young bucks who can barely afford to put gas in the car wanting to get the car lately?

rAiN 04-07-2013 12:21 PM

you really want to know?

convert that into euro.
that much will only last you 260-310 miles depending on how you drive.

i think a gallon was around $4.22 for premium

thats why there is lot of used Z for sale, they can definitely afford 33-37k car but never thought about all other stuff that comes with premium car. (gas, maintenance wear and tear items and etc)

and after 30k miles schedule maintenance they sell the car realizing how stupid it is to have a car like this for daily.

nmjaxx9 04-07-2013 12:38 PM

Welcome, jus dont drive pedal to the metal and you will be fine.

Poor question, to buy or not, to be asking on this forum. And if you're worried about gas mileage, buy a Prius.

Btw......Hi.

patriotaki 04-07-2013 12:45 PM

yes but as a student ill not use the car daily.. :D more like "show" and personal happines xD

6MT 04-07-2013 12:46 PM

Mmmm, ok. Prius.

asdfsammich 04-07-2013 12:54 PM

Just have dad buy you a Bugatti and lifetime gas, maintenance and insurance. It would be the most sensible way for you to accomplish your goal of max show at minimal cost.

Btw......Hi.

There seems to be a lot of "not sure if I can afford the gas/insurance" threads lately. It's not all that complicated ...

Im 21 and i bought the Z 6 months ago. So far gas money and maintenance is not a issue for me since i work two job to maintain my Z. I use premium gas and when I fill it up to full tank I pay $65 to $70 (depends on gas price) and I usually get 310 to 360 miles. SO what I am trying to say is if your really have the mind to own a Z, just work some part time jobs to afford the gas money and ask for your parents to pay some of the insurance as well.. insurance jump the roof on me and my parents are helping me with that since I don make enough money to maintain the car on my own. however I do my best to not rely on my parents for the payments.

P.S. dont mod your car.... lol once you start, you cant end it

tower74 04-07-2013 01:55 PM

Well if he can afford a Porsche, hopefully new, then I'm sure he can afford to pay the outrageous insurance and the gas it will take for you to get around. Otherwise I would consider a par time job to help out with your "show" car. Good luck.

dP3NGU1N 04-07-2013 04:40 PM

Don't get the car. Last thing we need is more regret threads.

patriotaki 04-09-2013 02:05 PM

regret why?

Go back to your original post to find the answer.

silentnightz 04-09-2013 05:48 PM

If you get a part time job you will be fine getting the z also look at the fact your dad is willing to buy you the car!! WILLING!!! That's alone is worth it lol. My biggest concern for you will be the ja in your university waiting to key your car

Yeah but most people in universities are chill with it. Make sure you make the right friends. Usually one can tell what kind of person you are by the people who you associate with.

zefaulter 04-10-2013 06:39 AM

I pay $95-$110 each time I gas up. That happens twice a month. That's more than some cars monthly payment lol

ElVee 04-10-2013 08:07 AM

cyprus?

Z-Girl 12 04-10-2013 09:00 AM

Don't do it

XiP 04-10-2013 09:12 AM

If you're worried about gas then you shouldn't be looking at sports cars

Luciano13 04-10-2013 06:59 PM

Its bottom line for any car your looking at......
Price of car + price for insurance + price of gas = yes or no
If your not sure if u can afford the 370Z + insurance+ gas+ all your future mods, than YOU CAN'T AFFORD IT!
Im glad people are interested in purchasing the 370Z, im not sure of the rest of the forum but i see so many "should i buy a Z", "can i afford a Z":shakes head:
The way i see it, think all you want about "buying" your car. But until you "buy" a 370Z :gtfo2:

 J/K

Well........:gtfo2:

ZKraken22 04-10-2013 07:29 PM

I couldnt even tell you what gas is a gallon. I just drive!!!

Sounds like an issue to me...

OP, I think the bigger question is if the 370z is where you want to spend your money. Okay if you can afford it, but is that where you want to spend your money?

I see 22 MPG...

... when I lift my foot off the gas and coast on the highway. :rofl2:

I think my trip computer says my avg MPG is 16ish. :shakes head: My 517 RWHP Vette averaged 19ish and got 30+ MPG on the HWY. The Z is NOT the sports car for you if you want fuel economy.

USAF_troop 04-11-2013 01:37 PM

I avg about 20 MPG and I agree with what most ppl have said already... don't do it until gas, maintenance, etc isn't an issue financially. A sports car probably isn't the best move for you at this point. Regardless, good luck.

dP3NGU1N 04-11-2013 01:45 PM

I'm averaging 22mpg (computer reading) right now. It's mostly highway mileage though. I think I do 18/19 on the streets. No I don't drive like a grandpa (I'm hitting 50 on surface streets that are posted at 35/40). I don't know how you guys hit less than that unless you're flooring it everywhere or you're always going uphill lol.

I only see HWY miles on the weekend so that's most of my problem right there. Mileage still sucks though compared to what other engines can get.

MEZZZER 04-11-2013 02:05 PM

from pump visit to pump visit I've been avg 22 on mostly hwy miles with occas. playing and no grandpa driver here. I dont go by my dash read out just miles divided by gallons. :driving:

dP3NGU1N 04-11-2013 04:25 PM

What is our tank capacity? I usually fill up at half tank so I don't know the exact amount. Btw even at half tank it's still $40-$50 :shakes head:

Luciano13 04-11-2013 09:56 PM

Here's the link for the MPG or L/100
http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...u-getting.html :tiphat:

Vichtz 04-11-2013 10:40 PM

The key here is you are in college/university. I am in college, have a part time job, and use the Z as my daily driver. what most don't realize is that "daily driver" for a student is "weekend around the block" driver because buses run everywhere. I don't know if that is the case there, but here, I fill up maybe once every 2 months. So if you drive it only when you need to and your school provides alternate transportation, you should be fine. Although at 17, I would suggest something a little less maintenance intensive and more fun to drive in straight lines haha
