New Z and then Hail Storm
Just got my 'new' 370 last month. It's a 2011 MT Touring Coupe with just 11,500 miles. The previous owner took great care of it and it was in immaculate condition. Hurray!
Last Monday we had a MAJOR hail storm. I had the pleasure of sitting in my car during rush hour as it was pummeled by hail stones from ping-pong to baseball size. EVERY panel has at least one dent. The hood has 20+ dents along with the roof and deck lid. The windshield is shattered and the passenger mirror cover was knocked completely off. Insurance company appraiser said $3,600 in damage but he must have been looking at a different car. My appraiser said it will be at least double that (still waiting on their estimate). The insurance appraiser thought all dents could be straightened out but my collision guy said they'd need to be replaced. Since most of the car is aluminum, I'm assuming they will need to be replaced. Pictures coming soon... |

Ohhhh!!! That's such a helpless feeling too! I was waiting in line for gas and it happened to me. Luckily it wasn't that bad. Part of me wanted to get out and lay on top of it, another part wanted to gtho there... Luckily it stopped right before my breaking point.
Sorry to hear... but look at the bright side. New aftermarket replacements are in your future. |

Damn that is very unfortunate! That sucks.
Maybe trade it in for a new model when you get it fixed, as it seems car will never be the same after major bodywork like that. But then again, I am picky.

I'm thinking he'll just need the panels that were damaged replaced. More than likely he/she would have ended up getting a body kit. And a carbon fiber hood and hatch are available on the market. It has the potential to look better than new in my opinion. And if he/she is married, they now have a completely valid excuse..lol

HOLY SH!T...
For sure you're out a hood, fender, roof, trunk lid (because of the dent on the corner) and usually the hood is a freebie because it's not that expensive... I'd get ALL CF replacements

Ouch!!! But wouldn't they just bondo the parts like on the rear hatch vs replacing the whole hatch?

On a corner... a bit more difficult, doable, but difficult. EVEN if it is done, and done well, it'll ALWAYS be visible And they won't do bondo on such small dings usually, they COULD for the fender, but holy crap, your insurance has gotta be cheap to do that...

Dude that so sucks...we had a hailstorm come through 2 weeks ago out of no where. My car fortunately was being garaged at the bodyshop or a rear bumper replacement. Everyone came into work the following day with all kind of damage. I am sooo greatful my baby was not out and about. Sorry to hear, atleast it's covered but still a headache!

Update...
Got my estimate back from the collision company I took it to Friday. They advise replacing the hood, roof, deck lid, windshield, mirror and tail light as well as removing smaller dents from the other panels etc. They also said it will need a completely new paint job and included a new clear bra. Total...$8700.
