New 370Z Owner...Been waiting 20 years

Just a quick note to say hello to all fellow forum members. I recently joined this forum as I am a Z enthusiast.

I just purchased on 1/1/13 a 2009 370Z Touring/Sport/Nav. Color is Gunmetal Silver with Black leather interior. 19" Rays which simply look fantastic.

I used to own a 1986 300ZX which I purchased in 1988 and sold it in 1993 before my daughter was born. I absolutely loved that car and it was very difficult to get rid of it, but had to start a family. It was my goal to once again own a Z. They are unlike any other sports car. 20 years later, I can happily say I have once again become an owner. It is an awesome feeling.

I live in Chicago, IL. and the weather here has been mild enough to drive this for a few days since I made the purchase. Once the she snow starts falling, this beauty will be kept inside my garage until Spring thaw. I can not wait.

It is amazing how far along the Z has come. It simply brings a smile to my face every time I think about her.

first thing I'd do since yours is an '09 is check the steering lock.
Here's a thread about that: steering lock/won't start issues

I just checked and have RevB. I will be taking it to my dealership to see if they will replace with RevD or RevE.

If not, I plan on purchasing the harness kit and will install myself.

Thanks to all for the heads up. Definitely want to ensure this is taken care of immediately.

Thanks. It will definitely be worth it when the time comes. This is one fine automobile. It just is plain awesome.

Save your money and I hope you can find a job once you graduate from college. If you have to sacrifice eating Mac-n-Cheese every night, trust me, it will be well worth it.

All the best to you.

Well I took my Z into the dealership the other day to discuss this issue. They admitted they have seen the steering lock issue and replaced many. I told them I have the RevB version which is prone to failure and do not want to be stuck somewhere if it decides to fail. I was told it is a catch 22 issue. Nissan won't replace a working steering lock and will only replace if it fails.

If it should fail, at least I am covered as car under warranty through 2017. Not to mention trip interruption money, food money, full tow service, rental car if needed, etc. It's just the hassle if it should break down away from home.
