I told them I have the RevB version which is prone to failure and do not want to be stuck somewhere if it decides to fail. I was told it is a catch 22 issue. Nissan won't replace a working steering lock and will only replace if it fails.

If it should fail, at least I am covered as car under warranty through 2017. Not to mention trip interruption money, food money, full tow service, rental car if needed, etc. It's just the hassle if it should break down away from home.
Remove the fuse and be done with it. There is no reason to have the dealer replace it with another version, which might also fail (albeit, a lower chance than rev A, B, or C). It is incredibly simple to remove the fuse plus the peace mind knowing it won't leave you stranded somewhere

Nissan removed the steering lock unit entirely during mid-2011 production - that should tell you all you need to know about the latest revision of the SLU...

You are absolutely correct. I will do it this weekend. Pretty easy fix.

By pulling the fuse, it doesn't disrupt anything or cause an issue somewhere else?

The only thing so far that anyone can tell is every once in a while after you push the start button, the car delays for noticeable moment (1 full sec or more) before starting. This has happened to me specifically twice since removing the fuse over two months ago. It is nothing that has caused any problems for anyone as far as I know - the car still turns on without issues.
