I started posting in threads so I guess I should introduce myself -

Welcome to the site. Don't tell anyone else here, but I kind of like RX-8s.

Snakebite202 06-27-2009 01:31 PM

Yeah, it's a nice car but grossly underpowered and has more than an array of tech issues.

Welcome to the forums. Nice Rx-8. I have always wanted to drive one but never had a chance. Car looks great!

Do so if you get a chance. They handle EXTREMELY well. The power delivery is really strange, though (no power until 3000 RPMs. 3000 to 6000 starts to pull, & then 6000 to redline is a hoot).

I think I last drove one four years ago. I want to drive one again just for fun & just compare my memories versus reality.

Welcome!
I think I remember you?
You want a blue 370z no?

Yeah, this is pretty much on point. 3 to 6 and 6 to 9. And the handling...especially if you happen to have coilovers, dear lord!

You're thinking of someone else. I'm getting a red 370z...just making sure all funds are in order first. I actually have a word document on everything I'm going to do to the car right down to the brand of each part. lol

I try to be fair in my complements & criticisms of cars.

I wonder if Edmunds is hiring....

You can always go to their site and check under the employment section. :rofl2:

May I use you as a reference?

That's funny that you say the power delivery is strange..... It's quite linear with a very flat torque curve that looks just like the 370z!

Torque is quite low at idle, steadily ramping up, then flattening off near its peak torque at a little over 3,000 rpm, then staying perfectly flat until about 1,500 rpm from redline it trails off just a little, then fuel shutoff.

The real difference is just that the 370z has a lot more of it to work with!

Snakebite202 06-27-2009 07:07 PM

Actually peak torque happens at about 6K and peak horse power at about 8200...you are right about the torque curve though - it is quite impressive. I have a dyno sheet somewhere, gotta look for it.

Lol. I'll let you know when I apply for this imaginary job.

At the time, I was driving a Honda Civic Si-- I think that could be why the power deliver was "funny" to me.

As I said, I very much want to drive an RX-8 again to refresh my memory.

I love driving different cars.
