If you are driving 50k miles a year, the 370z is not the right car for you.... or not the right daily driver. In 2 years, you would eat $20,000 in depreciation, 5 tire changes at $1,500 per change, 20 oil changes at $100 each for Nissan ester oil and $17,000 in gas (average is 2/3 city, 1/3 highway, then I subtracted 2 mpg from the EPA average for bad throttle behaviour and multiplied that by $3 per gallon for premium gas).
You total cost of operation for 2 years would be higher than $46,500! Also, the 370z is one of the most inexpensive sports cars. Sports cars are just not intended for that kind of high mile use. Based on your personal situation, I would recommend either 1) buy a 370z for pleasure use and keep the Honda for work/travel or 2) if you can't afford option #1, keep the status quo with the civic and drive it for another 100k miles because the first 100k depreciation is a lot higher cost than the next hundred and the Honda will likely be able to take the punishment. -Phim |
