Default Potential 370z buyer, but in the meantime check out my 2007 Civic Si (modded)

hey guys, well first off my names Jed and I drive a 2007 Honda Civic Si (fg2). I've had it for about 2 years and i've gotta say I'm really happy with it. However, I've racked up almost 100k miles on it in just 2 years! I don't want to deal with all the maintenance that will probably be in the near future. So of course, I want a silver 370z with the sport package. Probably close to the end of the year is when I'll be getting it, just saving for a down payment as of now. I've been looking at all the members cars and they look SO good. Well enough of my intro here's my car....

2007 Honda Civic Si - FG2 - Rallye Red
- 18" Enkei RPM2's 18X8 wrapped in Bridgestone Fusion ZRI all seasons
- Honda Factory Performance Body Kit (front, rear, side skirts)
- Eibach Sportline Springs (1.5 inch drop)
- Skunk2 Catback Exhaust - Sold
- Vibrant Catback Exhaust - Sold
- Customlightz Retro Fitted Headlights TSX Projectors - Sold
- JDM Front and Rear Red Emblems
- 25% Window Tint
- Pioneer AVIC-D3 In-Dash Navi - Sold

Best Quarter Mile - 14.75 Sec.
Dyno Results - 202.45 HP (hey not bad for such a light car )

Welcome to the site. FG2s are nice cars (I prefer the FA5s, but I digress). Post some more pictures.

Those wheels really work for the car. Dawn over at 8thcivic.com had them, if I remember correctly.

Maintenance issues...that's a Honda that thing will run forever. I have an 07 Civic EX coupe that I daily drive and used for autocross whenever the SRT4 wasn't available.

It's one of the best cars I have owned. I can see why Honda wins over so many people.

If you are driving 50k miles a year, the 370z is not the right car for you.... or not the right daily driver. In 2 years, you would eat $20,000 in depreciation, 5 tire changes at $1,500 per change, 20 oil changes at $100 each for Nissan ester oil and $17,000 in gas (average is 2/3 city, 1/3 highway, then I subtracted 2 mpg from the EPA average for bad throttle behaviour and multiplied that by $3 per gallon for premium gas).

You total cost of operation for 2 years would be higher than $46,500! Also, the 370z is one of the most inexpensive sports cars. Sports cars are just not intended for that kind of high mile use.

Based on your personal situation, I would recommend either 1) buy a 370z for pleasure use and keep the Honda for work/travel or 2) if you can't afford option #1, keep the status quo with the civic and drive it for another 100k miles because the first 100k depreciation is a lot higher cost than the next hundred and the Honda will likely be able to take the punishment.

That's one of the better looking coupes I've seen. Personally, I hate think the coupes look like crap but that one is nice.

I drove a galaxy gray sedan for a while in between my fast cars. Was a nice daily driver... good mileage. I kind of miss it.

I totally agree with you except I do plan on altering my driving habits for my next car. Most of my miles came from the fact that I used to go to college in south florida, and coming from there to maryland really racked up the mileage on my car (maybe 10 trips back and forth so far). Work is only 2 miles away from me, but I just love driving, I always drive my friends when we decide to go somewhere, however in the 370 with only 2 seats, that would change
