New Member...But with a 5.0

Hey guys,

I used to be a 350z owner so naturally I'm a fan of the 370 too. I have a 2012 Mustang 5.0 right now and I love it but every time I see a Z I want to get back in the seat of one. Pretty much just joined the forum to learn more about the 370 and possibly trade for one in the future (hopefully FI). Just figured I'd introduce myself and throw up a couple pics of the 5.0.

The handling of the mustang is far better than the earlier models and the shifting is actually really smooth. I put down 363whp and 353wtq on a mustang dyno bone stock, so the power is definitely there.

Good looking 5.0. What do you miss most about the Z?

Jasonle 04-23-2012 07:11 PM

Nice man! And welcome!

I like how you never see any Z's. There were 3 5.0's in the parking lot of my gym today. It also felt more like a sports car whereas this clearly feels like a muscle car. I like the tight knit community of Z owners too that I felt over on my350z

This is so true, I love that new 5.0 just like the Camaro V8 but there are too many, the Z is almost like an exclusive club.

Very nice looking 5.0 congrats.

sfearl1 04-23-2012 07:24 PM

Nice 5.0! We had another previous 350z owner come over from a Shelby GT500... said the same thing, he missed the Z. He is now driving a 370 (nismo) ;)

Here's his thread...

Lethal302 04-23-2012 07:29 PM

Yeah its weird. I was so power hungry with the 350 and I had an auto and I really wanted to get into a 6spd so the 5.0 met both of those requirements. I loved my Z though I literally felt like I could have cried when I sold it lol. I had the Nismo v2 kit on it, HKS exhaust, Injen Intake, TSW wheels, tinted windows, sound system etc... was a great learning experience for me

sfearl1 04-23-2012 07:37 PM

I know the feeling man. I had a 350 that got totaled before I was ready to let it go. I bought an Evo X a month later that was waaaay faster, but it just didn't give me the same satisfaction as the Z. I traded the X for a 370 seven months after that. I honestly haven't looked back since

Lethal302 04-23-2012 07:39 PM

Ughh stop talking me into this haha. If I could find a nice TT/SC'd 370 I'd gladly trade the mustang+cash for it

m4a1mustang 04-23-2012 07:39 PM

Welcome!

haha didn't expect to see another mustang owner on here

FairladyZ 04-23-2012 07:53 PM

Damn .... I love the mustang 5.0 but what kept me from getting one is that there is a **** load of variations of mustangs and camaros which makes it very common on the streets

That's the same reason I overlooked the camaro ss

They both have cheap entry level v6 which many people buy and makes them common

No, most of us owned 370s previously and then moved on to the 5.0.

Having had a 350Z before I can see why you'd want to give the 370 a shot. Both it and the 5.0 are really appealing cars.

What are you trying to say? :stirthepot:

MacLean 04-24-2012 12:45 AM

Nice pics of your 5.0 & I like the number's the car puts out. I really do like the new Mustangs & Camaros, but I would take a Mustang over a Camaro any day. You will not go wrong with a Z, Mustang, or Camaro at all. The only problem is that you see too many effen Mustangs & Camaros on the road & not that many Z's. I'm not too sure why that one guy went from a GT500 to 370Z, but I personally would have kept the GT500.

If I had a GT500 I'd be sticking with that. Especially the 2013's with 650hp

Pauly 04-24-2012 05:55 AM

that looks sick murdered out. nice whip

If I could find a z pushing the same hp as my car safely that would be perfect

4-450whp is pretty safe!!

[QUOTE=TerribleONE;1682447]4-450whp is pretty safe!![/QUOTE

Any chance of hitting that with bolt ons? I remember the 350z didn't get much out of mods...I could get about 390whp realistically if I bought an intake/pre made tune for around $700

No. 330 whp max with full bolt-ons. Maybe 340 or so on a very friendly dyno.

Sadly, no.. the best your going to get with bolt ons is 320-330whp...

I'm surprised...I know 350z hr's put down around 300 with full bolt ons...seems like it would just be worth it to go fi from the start and not waste any time with na bolt ons...I've actually talked to some 5.0 owners that put down 430+ with full bolt ons

Yep, most of the 5.0 guys I know are around 430-440 with full bolt ons. I know a couple FI guys making some nice numbers... anywhere from 550-650.

If you want power with the 370, yes, it's worth it just to go FI right off the bat.

Sounds like the only draw back to the 370 imo...unless of course someone wants to trade me a tt

m4a1mustang 04-24-2012 12:06 PM

TTs pop up for sale here every so often.

FuszNissan 04-24-2012 12:40 PM

TT's :yum:

jay4500 04-24-2012 12:45 PM

mustangs look so boring , all the 370z needs is a good roots supercharger, Im just not a big fan of all those after market piping that the Stillen supercharger comes with .;)

Lethal302 04-25-2012 07:14 PM

Actually had a 370 pull up next to me on the highway today at about 60mph and started reving...Dropped into 3rd and we both gunned it and I pulled really hard...Now I'm second guessing my trade consideration I thought it would be a little closer than it was

**No cars in sight and felt like a decently safe time to run with the Z

Mikes350z 04-25-2012 07:26 PM

No the 5.0 and V8 Camaro will basically kill us in a straight line, we are about looks and speed, just not killer speed.

run up on a single/twin turbo Z and it would be a little more exciting

i'm staying away from a lot of the common bolt-ons and just going FI asap!
