My Parents Surprised Me!

So I just graduated from the University of Minnesota, and I drive home (to houston, tx) from school for the holidays and this black beauty is sitting in the driveway. My jaw dropped and I screamed like a little girl. :happydance:

They had made me believe it was too expensive of a car, and they couldn't afford the insurance. Tricksters! :merrychristmas:

Greetings Forum!

ps. question is that stock tint or was it tinted?

m4a1mustang 12-24-2011 09:53 AM

Congrats!

That looks like aftermarket tint.

Merry Christmas!

Congrats!

Your first mod should be an upgrade to the Sport package 19" Rays and tires. I'll just happen to have a set available after Christmas with less then 2,500 miles on the wheels, tires, and TPMS in mint condition.

Shameless plug over.

Again, congratulations on graduation and the graduation present.

Merry Christmas!

edub370 12-24-2011 10:16 AM

nice sir!

first thing i can say is remove the stock cats. i think we can all agree that the stock cats really choke this car down. high flow cat or test pipe, coupled with a cat back will make that thing a whole lot meaner

booboo1343 12-24-2011 11:12 AM

Congrats!!!

You have some good parents! Congrats on graduation from College and the well deserved 370Z. Achievement equals Reward.:tiphat:

BeemaaZ 12-24-2011 11:14 AM

Congrats & welcome to the forum!

nmjaxx9 12-24-2011 11:18 AM

Congrats! Nice gift and perfect timing on your parents part. :tiphat:

Roadster4Us 12-24-2011 11:27 AM

Very nice! Are your parents looking to adopt? I am probably older then them, but let's not sweat the little details. :icon17:

Jasonle 12-24-2011 11:45 AM

Wow nice! Best Christmas gift ever!

Trips 12-24-2011 11:51 AM

Congrats and Welcome! :hello:

awkwardturtle 12-24-2011 12:27 PM

Jesus, is this a common thing in Texas? I have a friend in college (in MN as well) who recently went back home to Texas where her parents had a brand new Mustang GT waiting for her. If you can't tell, I'm jealous :D

O&G 12-24-2011 01:39 PM

GRATZ, thats a great start to X-mas

Waiz 12-24-2011 02:31 PM

Good job graduating and congrats on the Z, you have very nice parents!

I'm lucky if I can get $5 from my mother so you are very fortunate :icon17:

Cell 12-24-2011 03:01 PM

I am definitely jealous... My parents gave me NOTHING for christmas and I certainly didn't buy anything for myself either...

Super Moderator II 12-24-2011 03:03 PM

Congrats and welcome! I am also a member of the jealous club :D

What does that do to warranty? My mom made sure to tell me all about the extra money they spent on an extended warranty, so don't eff it up.

well the common thing in texas is to get a mustang in general. Thats the end-all-be-all sports car. if its a mustang and its got a v8, its FAST! (stated in a very sarcastic southern accent)

Mai-z 12-24-2011 04:55 PM

So, new news... my rear speakers don't work

When I switch the fade to the Rear speakers, there is no sound. At first I was like oh wait, i don't have the premium sound package, I don't have rear speakers. Then I figured that was silly, so i looked and there are speaker grills... just no sound. There are rear speakers in the base sound package, right?

Reaper333 12-24-2011 05:25 PM

First of all welcome and congrats on the Z. Thats awesome of your parents to do that for you. As for the speakers in the rear. I could have sworn I read on here somewhere that there is no speakers back there just grill with the standard setup. When you get the upgraded package you get the rear fill speakers. Better off going aftermarket anyways. Well enjoy your new toy. Merry Christmas...

KingZee 12-24-2011 05:31 PM

Congrats on the Z and on your graduation! ...Sorry bud, no speakers in the rear on the base, the first thing I did was a full stereo install and 6 speaker replacement on my car, stock system is horrible and I haven't read much good on the Bose either.

Mai-z 12-24-2011 06:17 PM

haha thats so jankity! Excuse my improper terminology. Sounds like I'm in the market for some speakers, what size are they? 6x9 i'd assume.

didymus 12-25-2011 12:04 AM

What rear wing is that?

Kingbaby 12-25-2011 01:27 AM

<----Jelly

Unique_Z 12-25-2011 05:13 AM

Congratulations OP, enjoy it in good health. here's what my parents gave me when i graduated high school :

The only thing a high flow cat, cat back, our test pipe can legally void is your exhaust (which u will be replacing anyways. Other than that, your good to go. voids nothing else engineor drivetrain related

rebe945 12-25-2011 10:36 AM

Cool Parents

Enjoy

 awesome... so HFCs over intake? I have an amazon gift card... plan on using it towards something. Sooner than later :driving:

KaienZ34 12-25-2011 03:24 PM

Best power mod for the money i'd say HFC's.

Jsolo 12-26-2011 12:27 AM

So this begs the question, did your parents buy it for you to drive back to MN, or someone else in the family will use it in TX while you're away at school.

If it's the latter, stop reading now. If not, your first mod should be a set of snow tires so you can drive it in the winter :)

Mai-z 12-26-2011 08:28 AM

I have a 2001 Honda Civic as a daily/winter driver

ImportConvert 12-26-2011 10:30 AM

Haha, I had to buy my own graduation gift, but I learned a long time ago not to be jealous of people who have more. They have more for a reason. Congratulations and don't let any haters get you down! Enjoy it responsibly! I have yet to meet a single person who handed the keys to ANY car back to their parents.

FuszNissan 12-26-2011 10:39 AM

Congrats and Welcome!

edub370 12-26-2011 04:04 PM

high flow cats or test pipe will be your best bang for the buck purchases
