Default New 240z Owner

Hello, All

I'm not new to this forum, but there was nowhere to post a new owner of an older Z and I'm too excited not to post. So I traded my 1990 300ZX and some cash for a 1973 240z!!! I'm so excited. I still plan on getting a red 370z NISMO some day, but with my wife and I closing on our first house next week, I just can't imagine being able to afford the 370z for a few more years. I have no intention of selling my 240z though. It'll be my perma garage queen along side my NISMO.

My first Z was a 2008 350z enthusiast. I fell in love with the 350z in 05. I patiently waited for it to make financial sense. Then in Sept of 09, I found the perfect car. Six months later, my wife totaled the car.

I made it about a month without a Z before deciding to buy a 300ZX to tide me over until I could afford a 370z. I did some light tasteful mods to it and drove it from Colorado to Tennessee for ZCON 2010. What an awesome experience that was. It was there that I fell in love with the Z-car community as a whole and saw my first 240z in person. I knew that I just had to have one.

As luck would have it, I couldn't get any serious offers on my 300zx as I tried to sell it for 6 months. It was one of those "once you see it in person, you'll know why I listed it for so much" kinda cars. After much difficulty trying to sell it, I finally came across the perfect situation where a 240z owner wanted my car and I wanted his. We were able to reach an agreement that was mostly a direct swap with a little cash from me seal the deal.

It is one of the sexiest cars that I've ever owned. I can't stop staring at it. I can only imagine what people thought in the 1970's.

Pic of my 3 Z's attached.

You seem to be working your way backwards in the time line. Very nice, congrats!

It's been a fun experience really learning the heritage of the Z-car.

I knew mostly what to look for. The car is rust free (i looked all over). It runs well. The main issues with the vehicle are that it needs a better paint job to really make it shine. There are a couple of really small dings, I wouldn't even call them dents. The interior dash has three cracks, but I located a mint condition dash, and the seats need to be recovered, but the zstore has seat covers that look like the original. Everything else in the car is original. The interior isn't dirty which is a huge plus.

More pics coming. I can't get the website to load them without crashing.

Welcome to the club and remeber to enjoy your S30! The performance of that car from a 40 year old platform is nothing short of impressive. There is no competeing with technology but regardless the 240Z is iconic for a reason. It's too bad that there is such a disconnect from the whole heritage of the Z car with new owners. Lots of times I'll opt to leave the 370Z in the garage to take the 240Z out instead....

You have a whole collection of older Z-cars, right? I've been lusting after your cars for awhile now. haha

Wow that is the exact replica of my first Z, right down to the Bob Sharp air dam. The only difference is I had lens covers on the head lights. How I miss that car. It's because of that car, I became a Z fan. The 370 is my fourth!
